fun place
By ,
The Manresa Castle is an active place. We stayed there on a Saturday night and there was a jazz show in the dinning room which was very good. The staff is made up mostly of very enthusiastic college girls. They even let us up in the famous haunted attic, we saw on TV. The hotel is not in the main town area but about a mile away from the shops. We were on the third floor and had a good view of the town and the waterfront. The town has a lot of art shops and antique stores. We thought the deal was good. We got a suite with cocktails an snacks for $149.00 plus the tax. Think it is an off season special as we were there in February.

Wonderful room with a view!
By ,
Was very clean and spacious. A wonderful view of the bay. Two big fluffy robes, and the staff was very helpful and nice as well. No problem. I will stay there again. Dont know what some other negative reviewers were talking about, this is a much nicer place to stay than a basic hotel/motel. Very quiet too at least on the 3rd floor.

smelly

Terrible place. Found pubic hair in our bed, My children found two hair bands in their bed: The sheets had not been changed from the previous guests- Gross. Staff gave us new sheets and told us we might be able to weasel a discount in the morning. I told her we do not want a discount, Just a clean bed to sleep in. During the night the sewers produce a foul odor of crap in the room. This is not a ghost problem, It's a sewer issue. I am not a big complainer, all those positive statements are bull. Don't go to this Hotel, you will be sorry you wasted your money on a dump!

Great Place
By ,
We had a great time. Staff was very friendly. We took our 15 yr old daughter and 13 yr old neice. The gal at the front desk took them up to the attic since they were interested in the ghost aspect of the hotel. The breakfast was amazing. We will be going back again.

COULDNT HAVE CHOSE A BETTER PLACE TO STAY!
By ,
For the people who wrote about not being able to check in until 4pm, THAT IS THE GUARNTEED CHECK IN TIME. I was able to check in at 2:00pm early because I called before hand and wasnt impatient. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. They printed our flight boarding passes out, and made sure our stay was comfortable. They had no problem upgrading our room, and were super friendly about it. The room was comfy, and most people need to understand that it's an actual castle. It is old and was built in 1892, the elevator is almost 80 years old, so unless you have a handicap or alot of luggage, don't be lazy and take the stairs. The furniture therefore is old as well. We had a good night sleep, and our wake up call was on time when we asked for it. We will deffinatly be staying here again, as it was a fun stay and adventure. And just to mention about the restaurant, Castle Key, the food and staff was amazing. We will deffinatly be back to visit this unique place again!

Awesome visit! Looking forward to next time.
By ,
We had a great time while visiting the castle. The staff was just awesome. Once they realized our interest in the paranormal they shared the castles journal with us and took us on a tour to the tower room. The continental breakfast was impressive. We are not sure about whether we had any "paranormal" experiences...just a couple of weird happenings. It was fun and we will certainly being going back. Rooms are small but what you should expect in a building so old. Shower was great with lots of hot water. The heat also works really well...I recommend turning it off before you go to bed. :)

Is it really Haunted?
By ,
My husband and I stayed in July 2009, we arrived early, which we were able to check in early. The front desk took us up in the elevator since we were on the 3rd floor. The elevator is very old so you can not use it yourself. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the food wonderful. Ice wine out of this world! The breakfast was good, lots of muffins, cookies, eggs, toast, tea, coffee and OJ. The room was cute, clean but very hot. There was a ceiling fan and a very small table fan. None of the windows opened more then 2 inches. That was our only problem, no air conditioning. I don't know if I can say it is haunted with what happened to me. There was a noise in the shower as if someone was in there and water running in the sink (2different times heard this) as if you were washing your face, very loud and clear. During the night I heard doors slamming very loud, like if a person was angry and slamming them over and over. I didn't go out to see what it was. Then finally I was able to fall asleep and some thing or someone touched my hand. It felt like a woman's hand reaching on to my hand, as to hold it. So there you have it....As for the town, is very nice. Lots of old buildings, shops and houses. We road around just looking at the old homes. Then we walked around the town. We drove from Seattle to Port Townsend the 4th of July weekend, the ferry was a 3 hour wait. Coming back to Seattle we took the ferry, it was wonderful and not a long wait at all.

Beautiful and romantic!
By ,
My boyfriend and I stayed in the jaccuzzi suite! Huge bed, beautiful view of the water, tub was huge. The staff was wonderful, they took us on a tour of the castle and even let us ride in the elevator (oldest one in Washington state). We had no probs with the ghosts. Slept great on the bed, Castle Key restaurant was extrodinarily good, cost was great for the food. We truly enjoyed our visit and plan on doing it again next year! It was a perfect overnight, romantic getaway. The perfect place to fall in love all over again!

It was AWESOME!
By ,
I loved the Manersa Castle. And those who have bad things to say about it, you should have known. Obviously the place is old so it is not a 5 star hotel. It was really neat when i stayed there with 3 of my BEST friends. My friend was turning 12 (yes, i am 12) and we stayed in the room at the very top, the room just below the attic where the priest had hung himself. I am pretty sure it was room 304. I loved the Maneresa. It was really neat experience. My friend got a Ouija board for her brithday and we sat it on the stairs up to the attic. We all placed our fingers on. We asked the question, "How many steps are on these stairs" We did not count the steps. The board went the one, then the nine. 19 steps. then we counted. there were 19 steps. All of a sudden an area on the stairs had become REALLY cold. There was a spirit there. He said his name was Max, he lived in the UK and his dad had poisoned him. He said he had come that night to protect us from the evil spirits. It was a really interesting thing. It kind of creeped us all out. The place was amazing. I live in Port Hadlock, so it wasnt very long to get there. Like, 12 minutes. Port Townsend is the big city for us. So i would tottaly in the blink of an eye go back again. Definatly would recomend it. But not to someone who wants a 5 star experience.

lets keep the facts straight
By ,
I am that "paranormal person", we briefed with the management on what we were going to be doing on that night. We were specifically instructed to have all equipment set up by 10:00 pm and did that. Due to the noise the stairs made, we did not proceed back up to the turret until after 8:00 am the next morning to retreive equipment. As far as the beeping " there was none from our equipment so whatever you were hearing didnt come from any of our equipment. I certainly try to respect the privacy of others and show great consideration to all around, but you cannot blame a lame time you experienced on myself or crew or the staff as they are genuine diamonds in a rough world. I and my friends and family have always had wonderful experiences while staying there and would always recommend this fine establishment to anyone without reservation. P. T. Barnum once said " you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time." it's a shame you couldn't have enjoyed the warm and lively ambiance of Manresa the way myself and others have. Best wishes to you in future endeavors. Oh and we had the privalige of meeting one of the Jesuit Priests who was there in the 1950's for training....an amazing man with a lot of colorful history lessons on Manresa!
