Don't leave anything behind
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/6/11
When you are traveling and realize you have left something behind in your room, after calling the hotel the day of your departure you would hope they would be efficient enough to notify housekeeping or if housekeeping found this item, to notify the front desk. I left behind a makeup mirror that is huge. On a flexible 11" arm there is a 6"mirror at each end that slides into a plate that suctions to the bathroom mirror. It is like having an elephant in the bathroom with you. How they could tell me this was not found, if they cleaned my room that day when I departed and called, makes you wonder how trusting their staff is. On my 2nd call of the day on Sunday, the day after I left, having described my item to them on Saturday, I was told it was still not found! I told them I would be returning the following weekend and would be there to pick it up! Amazingly it was found when I called Monday. When I returned, the mirror was there but not the plate. How do you remove the mirror and not the actual plate that is suctioned to the bathroom mirror? Upon my first call, my number was left as was my following calls. Not once did they call me to notify me it was found. Nor did it appear anyone spoke to the person who cleaned my room to ask what they did with it. You can't leave a mirror like that attached to the bathroom mirror for the next occupant, you have to remove it to clean the mirror. The experience left me feeling as though their attitude was that I was a traveler, not returning so why turn in such a great find - those mirrors are expensive. I feel if I didn't tell them I would be returning for the mirror then I would not have gotten my mirror back. So even if the establishment was to the 10's in comfort and price, this lack of attention to a traveler's item left behind places them on the bottom of the heap. It left me with the attitude that their lost and found policy is Finders Keepers. Thumbs down for this hotel
