A Southwestern Wisconsin Tradition where the Wisconsin River joins the mighty Mississippi in a majestic meeting. Where towering bluffs, beautiful waterways and fascinating history all converge in an area as breathtaking in natural beauty as it is diverse in recreational activities. The Brisbois Motor Inn is named after the famous fur trader, Michel Brisbois, a French-Canadian voyageur who came to Prairie du Chien in 1781 to attend the fur-trading rendezvous held in the spring and fall of each year. Originally Brisbois came to trade furs for the Hudson Bay Trading Company, but ended up making his home in Prairie du Chien where he became a baker. Because of the instability of government currency, Brisbois seized upon an opportunity and his bread soon became a primary currency of exchange within the community. The beaver in the Brisbois Motor Inn logo symbolizes the primary fur trapped during this era. The Brisbois Motor Inn is an established lodging tradition, offering comfort and service in the great Mississippi River Valley. As second generation family innkeepers, the Frydenlunds have been serving vacationers and

not good!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/08
First off while my husband was checking in I used the hotels public restroom, very dark,no soap or running water in sink but there was plenty of cigarette ashes. The halls and our room smelled,It was like an oven aleast 100 degrees when we walked in, our bathroom was dirty there was even (what looked like)blood on our toilet seat cover. My brother and his wife also had a room, theirs had holes in the carpet, dirt, black marks & holes on walls, dirty bathroom and had no toilet paper. The breakfast was terrible,it was like a day old gas station microwave sandwich. We wouldn't have stayed if there were other vacancies but town was booked for something. We will never stay again or recommend this place to anyone. For the same price($110.00) or close go down the street a couple of block theres some much nicer hotels.Anyone who gave the Brisbois Motor Inn a good review as to be an owner, relative or someone who does'nt get out much.

We had a awful room and then found out they had much better rooms in the back where they called it the new part! The tub was very dirty and old. rust in the tub and water was dripping from the faucet all the time. I would NEVER stay here again!!!!! They have many much better places in this town.

It's fine, if you don't expect more
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/07
We had no problems really, but expected a bit more for the price. Like others have said, it's clean and relatively well-maintained. Continental breakfast wasn't anything special, but it did the job. The motel has wi-fi but don't expect it to reach too far (we were on the end of the motel and couldn't get it). Reasonably comfortable bed but smallish pillows. Staff was courteous and helpful. Also, hope you like trains, because an important BNSF line runs right behind the motel frequently throughout the day and into the night (but not overnight).

Better than we expected!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/01/07
We recently visited Prairie Du Chien to go to the small Cabella's there and decided to stay at the Brisbois Motor Inn after much research of motels in the area. We were a little nervous because of a couple of the reviews we had read, but after a few phone calls and a very nice letter from the staff we decided to come ahead and we are very glad we did! The service was great and the staff was wonderful and the rooms were very nice. We would definitely stay there again. The breakfast that is offered as part of the casino package is very good, but we chose to eat at the restaurant instead of in our room (however we wouldn't recommend that restaurant for dinner time). Even though we didn't use the rest of the casino package as we don't gamble, it still was a good deal overall. But we were told that there is a shuttle that takes you to the Isle of Capri. Thank you Brisbois for a stay that was better than we expected!

Beware!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/06
We tried the "Casino Package". Forget the free shuttle to the casino. The casino no longer offers this service to the Brisbois. You don't get breakfast delivered to your room every morning. You get ONE breakfast that you have to go to the Hungry House to get.

You get what you pay for.

Don't expect luxury here. For less than $70 per night, it wasn't bad. I was disappointed when no one was around to set up the continental breakfast the first day I was there. Otherwise, it was nice to see a mini fridge and a coffee maker in the room.
