La Quinta Inn Milwaukee Northwest, Milwaukee

The hotel seemed nice enough....at first. Upon check in we were given the keys to room 203. When we entered the room, we noticed personal affects on the sink counter. They gave us keys to an occupied room!!! The staff was very apologetic and upgraded us to a larger room for the inconvenience. All was well until the middle of the night when my boyfriend woke up to use the restroom. He woke up to tell me that he had found a bug on his arm that human blood came out of when he crushed it. At first I didn't think much of it because I live in a pretty wooded area and assumed it was a tick that had stowed away on my clothes or something. Then the next morning I woke up and found that I had several very itchy red bite marks under my left arm, one on my back, and on my leg. I freaked out because I had no idea what they were from. My disturbance over the bites was enough for me to do some research on the computer. After getting a better description of the bug my boyfriend found on him, I discovered that the likely culprit was a bed bug!!!! The description my boyfriend gave was an exact match and the bite marks on me are a match as well. I called the hotel just this morning to lodge a BIG complaint and was told that the manager will call me back after 10am. You can bet your bottom dollar if I don't hear from her in a few hours, I'll be calling back! This is just unacceptable. I realized that these insects have made a recent resurgance BUT hotels should be taking extra precautions to avoid bed bug infestations. Its a very easy way to lose business. Sure its just a bug and they really aren't harmful but that's besides the point. Knowing I got bitten by one of those things is still freaking me out. I threw away the duffel bag I had with me and washed every single piece of clothing that was in it. Its unlikely anything hitched a ride in my luggage but can you blame me for freaking about it?! I would tell everyone to avoid this place at all costs. I've stayed at hotels less classy than this one and never had an experience like this.

We like the room size and the location is good, but we hate to see all furniture stained and dirty, al mirrors very dirty, the room has not been vaccumed or dusted in probably a month, a light bulb was broken, the coffee maker still having in a bag of coffee from I don't know when.

I really enjoyed my stay there, I went July 2007 and the check in and check out was a breeze, i didnt have to wait for anything, I loved the high speed internet connection that was free of charge since I had my laptop. there was ample parking and it was very close to many fast food restaurants, within walking distance, really close to a grocery store, and the mall. Close to the freeways and gas stations. I would recommend this Hotel to all.
