Econo Lodge Waterloo, Waterloo

This is a CHEAP hotel but a good value if you are just passing through and need a place to stay. The room itself was very small and cooled with a window unit that was set to about 80 degrees so when we walked in the room was VERY hot and there was an obviously stuffy smell. I turned the window unit to 65 and sprayed some perfume throughout the room and it didn't take...too...long to become bearable. The hotel is VERY DIFFICULT to find and the desk clerk wasn't really able to help me much. I finally had to stop at a gas station and 2 girls helped me by drawing out a map for me. The clerk was working alone so I can understand if he was frustrated with my being lost and I was tired and grouchy from driving seven hours. The ...free... breakfast was CHEAP! There was only decaffeinated coffee and the juice dispenser's apple juice did not work so neither I nor my daughter got what we wanted to drink. One other little thing...I had to unplug one of the lamps in order to plug in the microwave but at least there was a microwave because last night I stayed at a hotel for over $100 and there was no microwave or fridge and it also had a bad odor so I would say that even though I would not ever stay at this hotel again it is definitely not the worst hotel I ever stayed in and if you don't like to spend much money and don't mind little inconveniences then I would recommend this hotel.

old unmaintained building, questiounable guests, no internet connection. Biggest complaint-they do not lock the security entrance side door, it is supposed to be secured...for safety. The front desk girl was very nice

I will never stay at this hotel again. The room smelled and the staff was horrible. Of the three staff I dealt with only one was polite. The free wireless internet only worked for a short time during our stay. It was a horrible experience and when I said I wanted to stay somewhere else they said they would still charge me for the room, because I did not give them 48 hours cancellation notice. Spend your money at a better, more friendly hotel.

Upon arriving we found our rooms had been cancelled, but not by us. Then we were constantly told we did cancel them. We finally had to go to the top floor and in walking in found we had no lights. They had not been plugged in. The lady at the desk was nice, but the man just was impossible. I would not go back nor would I recommend this motel for others. I am sorry about this but that is how our whole bowling team felt. Colleen

everything...the lady working the front desk had a BIG PROBLEM...she was RUDE!!!!!!! I WILL NOT GO BACK!!! I think that it would be a great place for singles being that all i heard was the people in the next room have FUN!!!

I agree that this is not the cleanest of places to stay. I also agree you get what you pay for. I have stayed here more than once as it is a place close to the club I go to when in the area. Not driving far is the reason I chose for staying here. The service is adequate, but as for the $35 listed on the front page. I have NEVER been able to rent a room here for that price so the value is not really that great. I would compare it to a Super 8 in cost with the cleanliness and service bringing it to a rent by the hour type place.

was a great room for the value, needed to stay in waterloo because of a storm...might not want to get a room by the pop machines its a lil noisy but for the money...who cares
