misleading advertising

We believed the hotel coupon booklet advertising, and proceeded to this motel on a Saturday in mid-December. The coupon in the book had no restrictions for the weekends. At 3pm, well before many people had arrived, the person at the desk simply refused to honor the coupon (for $34.99/night) and offered a room at a much higher rate. It certainly seems to me that they simply planned on renting all the rooms out at what the market would bear. When there was some talk of making a complaint, the clerk called a manager who was very rude and unprofessional, used profanities and vulgar personal attacks, and would not give his name. While we obviously have no grounds to stand on (they can merely claim that all the qualifying rooms were taken) this certainly has all the appearance of "bait and switch" and making advertisements with little or no stock to supply customers who are lured on the basis of their advertisements.
Our only recourse is that we shall boycott Econo Lodge in the future, and advise friends to be skeptical of the truth of Econo Lodge coupons.
