Stayed Here Twice
By Mimi, 07/03/09
Both experiences were relatively the same..room service walked in on an almost awkward moment both times...I would say that was the only annoyance.. The second time i walked into a non smoking room that smelled like smoke and later found out that there was an ash tray with deposited cigarettes under the bed but both problems were minor and I wouldn't blame the hotel completely for either..I enjoyed the cable selection on the second floor nice as well as the fridge (also on the second floor)

GREAT LOCATION!!!
By BethAnn, 06/21/09
We got a fantastic price at this hotel. (F.Y.I. look at gas stations on the way up and they have free booklets for traveling with great deals in them) It is centrally located to just about everything. The room was clean. I had no complaints. It was not a holiday Inn but if you will just be there to sleep and change clothes this is perfect. If you want to hang out at the hotel, I am not sure this is where I would pick. Also No pool!!!

Bare bones sketchy area deceptive wireless.
By The LoneGranger, 08/20/08
We needed a room during a long trip and this near some other pricier places. It is bare bones, not too clean, lumpy beds, no amenities like coffee, iron, hair dryer, loud AC, very loud. The free wireless was not. It was some deal with tmobile where you have to sign up for a plan essentially $1 a minute. The soda machine area smells like urine. Cars kept circling around at night with booming bass systems. I took everything out of my car. The staff was loitering with friends around the entrance. The maid actually came in our room before check out time. Good thing i was dressed. Not really that cheap. there is a horrible Hardees nearby where I got coffee. Not the best impression of St. Louis this time.

Do not stay here!!!!!
By meez, 08/15/08
Other than the location, this hotel was one of the worst places I have ever stayed in. No coffee, iron, breakfast. When we returned to our hotel, the police were taking pictures of a room 3 doors down. Never a good sign. The people next door were load and obnoxious and wouldn't shut up until the wee hours of the morning, when finally the front desk guy decided to wake up and do his job. As some of the other reviews said--run, run, run!!!

Disgusting
By AnnetteM, 07/30/08
Well, yahoo keeps deleting my entries, but that's ok...here it is again...My boyfriend and I drove 5 hours from Southern IL to attend a concert that was playing at The Pageant that night. We chose this hotel because it was located not far from the venue, and seemed to be a nice place to stay. The receptionist at the front counter was extremely rude, and decided to finish up her conversation on her cell phone before she helped us, even though she knew we were there. She did not say, please, thank you, have a nice stay, nothing. She simply frowned the whole time, handed us our keys, and turned her back to us. But that was nothing compared to the room. The light fixtures were crooked, the toilet seat was cracked and yellowed, but the thing that got me the most was the dried blood speckled on the underside of the comforter. Luckily my boyfriend had accidentally booked a double room online, so we took both comforters off each bed and made up for it by doubling up the sheets on one lumpy, uncomfortable bed. It's obvious that they do not wash the comforters, nor care what might be on them. Normally, I am not picky about hotel rooms, and I understand that sometimes a few repairs are going to be needed in older hotels once in awhile, but the room was completely unacceptable. We gladly bolted out of there the next morning, and would never, ever stay there again. We would also strongly advise anyone going to that area so steer clear of this hotel. It was definitely not worth the $100.00+ we paid to stay there!

Try harder to find another location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/06/08
Staff seem as if they wish they were at home. The chain has no coffee in the room, no hair dryers-- it is bare bones. If you do stay here and need to eat breakfast, etc., go next door to the Holiday Inn. Their coffee shop is very nice, reasonable prices (not hotel prices), and you can get in-and-out in good time.

Inn?
By CaroleC, 07/17/07
I had just travelled 5 hours by bus to rescue my daughter when the car broke down. I was tired, sore and all I wanted was a place to SLEEP. The Red Roof was in the area I needed to be, was "reasonable" and boasted "all new rooms." Well, as I wrote on my comment list before I left - SHAME ON YOU. If what they use as "beds" is what you get for just under $100 - I'd rather sleep on a park bench. Their poor excuse for a bed consists of a thin matress appx. 3" thick, lumpy, and I suppose by the feel of it, this supposed "mattress" is layed on top of concrete. IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD IN A HOTEL ANYWHERE. There was 1 very thin blanket and 2 very small chintzy pillows. I woke up from a 2 hour sleep even more stiff and sore than when I had gotten there. NEVER STAY THERE if you want to get a good night's sleep.

Don't stay here!
By Amy, 07/18/05
I can't believe that I paid $97.99 + tax to stay in this dump!! Our room was dirty. There was a wet spot in the carpet where they had tried to shampoo something up. It was still soaking wet and bubbly. Our air conditioner was not working and it was 100 degrees outside. Maintenance did come and got it working. We then froze all night long! It is definitely too much to pay for such poor quality accomodations.
