Clarion Hotel Beachfront, Mackinaw City

We stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor facing Lake Huron. Room had 2-queen beds and a pull out sofa and balcony. Room was very nice and clean with a large bathroom. Employees were also very friendly. Beach area was sandy, not full of rocks. Kids had a great time in water since the sand bar went out far.

Our room was on the basement level. The porch was full of dead insects, vinyl siding and ground both covered in mounds....Our wall heater made horrible noises all night long as if it was zapping bugs! The so called hot tub did not have working blowers. Extremely disappointed after paying double the price of the other rooms in town. You could hear boats at dock all night long since close to the docks. I cancelled all of our other reservations with them

This was our first visit to Mack City. We stayed there in order to visit Mackinac Island. This Clarion has few rooms that actually have a view of the beach, but it is within walking distance. The hotel is right next to one of the ferry lines. Like most all of the hotels there the room doors are external doors like a motel six. The rooms are average and dated but decently clean. The walls are paper thin so you can hear neighbors talking and tv...upstairs neighbors will sound like clomping elephants with squeaking floors. No do not disturb signs so maids will just walk in if you don't head them off quick enough. St. Ignace, just across the bridge is another option for your stay as you can ride a ferry from there too to the island. I think they might have better hotel options, but most all of the hotels are about the same in this area.

The clerk was very helpful, we stayed in a beach front room. The room was very clean all over, it smelled very clean. the breakfast was great they had cereal, scramble eggs, gravy, biscuits, sausage, fruit bowl, bagels, toast, waffles, orange juice, apple juice. fruit punch,coffee, hot cocoa. We will stay at the Clarion every time that we travel to that part of the state.

We arrived at nearly 11pm, found the desk clerk to be helpful but busy. The manager saw this and stepped in to assist, making it one of the easiest check in experiences ever. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool was clean and refreshing. The staff was helpful and willing to assist in every way. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, that included waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit & juice, milk piping hot coffee, hot and cold cereals muffins and more. YUM! :-) The only negative was the recommendation to the Dixie Saloon. The Dixie Saloon is the WORST DINING IN ALL OF MICHIGAN! The food was cold, the staff was rude, and what little was edible made my daughter ill. :-(

The customer service was terrible! The atmosphere at night was extremely loud with children running outside and yelling, throwing things against the hotel... and the hotel staff did nothing! They said those customers paid extra. A few nights people had bon fires so the smoke/smell from the fire came into our beach front room; we wanted to be able to relax at night and listen to the waves but def not a possibility at this hotel!

We stayed a Friday and Saturday night for our ten year anniversary. We had a hot tub suite and it was very nice. The grounds were well kept and the hot breakfast was a plus. Very close to the Arnold Ferry and we could walk to most attractions. It is about a mile walk to the downtown shops but we did not mind since it was beautiful there.

staff was great, called on way there and said we were a day early, clerk was very helpful. upon arrival upgraded us to suite for no extra, nice room with plenty of space. Free breakfast was nothing great, but it is free eggs, sausage, breads, and drinks. Pool is big and clean not a typical small hotel pool. Free waterpark passes are included, this is a small waterpark just down the street. If you have small children it is great, but if your kids are above 12-14 too small for them in my opinion. Now we did visit during the offseason and the hotel was not busy at all, nearly empty, but i would definately stay there again.

I have a family member that worked at Clarion Hotel and the manager had my family member work over time but never paid the money that they worked for and this family member isn't the only one most of the workers there work overtime and do not get paid for it. DO NOT SUPPORT ANY LEGIO OWNED HOTELS.

there was a total lack of respect with the front desk people working there, we had a problem when checking in and asked to speak to manager, but he NEVER spoke to us. Have tried to get problem resolved, but have been given the cold shoulder. Will never stay with Clarion or any of their affiliates again!
