The inside is old and dirty!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/31/11
I stayed in the Gaylord, MI location on Friday, 1/28/2011. I was in room 111.
This motel looks good from the outside and that is ALL. My room had cobwebs in every corner of the ceiling in the room and bathroom. The walls are in desperate need to be cleaned and repainted. There are scratches and dirty marks all over. The bathroom walls were peeling around the tub. I chose not to shower due the bathroom door was swollen at the bottom and could not be closed. The door was too thick to close it. Also, the bathroom door handle was broken. I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff. He told me thank you for bringing it to his attention. That was all.
The breakfast area has no tables to sit and eat and my mom and I had to kneel on the floor next to coffee table. Also, the breakfast counter was very under-stocked. I had to ask for plates and another guest had to ask for bowls and more waffle mix. No one was monitoring the area even though it was completely visible from the front desk.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating but the property is in very poor condition. They need someone to do repairs.
Also, to top it off, I booked my room online and but when I arrived they did not have my reservation and was charged an extra $1.78 more for my room. I asked why and they said it was a tax but could not explain what tax. I agreed to pay it as they would not honor the printout of the confirmation when I showed them.
I am not sure if these motels are independently owned but this is the worst Americas Best Value that I stayed in.
