The inside is old and dirty!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/31/11
I stayed in the Gaylord, MI location on Friday, 1/28/2011. I was in room 111. This motel looks good from the outside and that is ALL. My room had cobwebs in every corner of the ceiling in the room and bathroom. The walls are in desperate need to be cleaned and repainted. There are scratches and dirty marks all over. The bathroom walls were peeling around the tub. I chose not to shower due the bathroom door was swollen at the bottom and could not be closed. The door was too thick to close it. Also, the bathroom door handle was broken. I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff. He told me thank you for bringing it to his attention. That was all. The breakfast area has no tables to sit and eat and my mom and I had to kneel on the floor next to coffee table. Also, the breakfast counter was very under-stocked. I had to ask for plates and another guest had to ask for bowls and more waffle mix. No one was monitoring the area even though it was completely visible from the front desk. The staff is very friendly and accommodating but the property is in very poor condition. They need someone to do repairs. Also, to top it off, I booked my room online and but when I arrived they did not have my reservation and was charged an extra $1.78 more for my room. I asked why and they said it was a tax but could not explain what tax. I agreed to pay it as they would not honor the printout of the confirmation when I showed them. I am not sure if these motels are independently owned but this is the worst Americas Best Value that I stayed in.

Very unclean and poor service
This hotel claims it was recently renovated, but the rooms were outdated, smelled horrible, and the furniture was about ready to fall apart. The hot tub was scalding and the pool was very dirty. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

absolutely terrible
I booked this hotel online. We arrived to a dirty room that smelled. Also the hot tub was filthy and cold. The pool had a yellow color. The hot tub was suppose to be fixed by morning. Finally our third night there it was hot...but dirty. We asked for a refund due to our filthy room and cold hot tub and the owner would not do that. He said the most he could do was give a night for free and switch rooms. We settled for that. The problem is the hot tub was still cold the next night and it was suppose to be hot the next morning. Also, the room was never credited for the first night to the credit card. I will never, ever stay here again. not to mention now i have to contact the credit card company. The people that work at the hotel, including the owner are very rude and all they are worried about is getting your money. The place is a filthy joke.

Was very disappointed!
By Mandi, 12/10/08
We were at the Gaylord inn last weekend and was very disappointed that the inn was under new owners. We were unhappy with the fact that the new owners took out the wifi and HBO. We were sent to a room that was not even cleaned yet whick then made the maids feel the need to hurry do to the mistake of the front desk, which ended up giving us a room that could and should have been cleaned better. Maybe if the desk clerk wasn't so concerned with her dog in the office she could have been aware that she was checking people in to uncleaned rooms. (we were not the first ones she had done that too that day!) I don't see us using the inn the next time that we visit gaylord.

We have stayed a lot of places in Mi, we travel every year to Canada, and we have been stopping in Gaylord to seperate or drive, and we find that the rooms are very clean, and the staff are a delight. Thank you so much, John, & Jerry Claybern
