Belle Grae Inn and Restaurant, Staunton

During the busiest time of the year, it seemed impossible that my husband I would find anywhere to stay on October 17, 2009 for our 9th wedding anniversary. When I found one suite open at the Belle Grae Inn, I was elated. Our stay proved to be a wonderful, comforting, relaxing experience. Suite 9 had a jacuzzi which was wonderful, the bed was comfortable, the room well appointed in a homey way, the sitting room and furniture very comfortable, the gas fireplaces an added bonus. The grounds are lovely at this time of year. The staff was very responsive to all of our requests. Breakfast was included and was delicious and filling. Our dinner experience in the thai restaurant was nothing less than mouth watering and yummy! Some of the best thai food we have ever eaten. If there was anything negative I would be able to say, it was that our stay was too short.

We stayed at the Bellegrae Inn in January and April '09. It is a wonderful old Inn situated within walking distance of downtown Staunton and innumerable nearby restaurants. Staunton is a small, quaint, Victorian town with elements of the old and new. It is a great location from which to launch your exploration of this countries early roots. The Inn itself is charming and comfortable. The Innkeeper, Michael Organ, has been in the business for nearly 30 yearas and is a wealth of knowledge about Staunton and the surrounding areas. Have a hearty breakfast before leaving the Inn for a day of adventure or hang around Staunton and soak up the local history. Very interesting area and very comfortable Inn.

I visited the Belle Grae Inn on September 11th and found an extraordinary surprise. The Belle Grae Restaurant that has lain dormant for 6 months had opened as a delightful Thai restaurant. Ubon Thai Victorian Restaurant at Belle Grae Inn, as it is called, delivered a wonderful Thai meal in a lovely Victorian setting. There were artifacts from Thailand integrated with the antique furniture, mirrors and fireplaces. The food was authentic and delicious. I am from Thailand and I know good Thai food. They offered me a choice of hot spicy and I chose four stars or Thai hot. It was perfect. It is interesting that they offer an American hot and a mild version. I had the crispy duck and I loved it. The wait staff were dressed in Thai dress and added that special something I miss from my home. Ubon, the owner, was charming and funny, after the meal I felt like she was a member of my own family. I highly recommend this restaurant for fellow Thai people or other nationalities that want to know what Thailand is like. I will be returning on my next trip from DC.

It was great! I had a great time at the spa, and i know if u have kids u will 2! The beds were very compfy u love it!

I can only say I stayed there several years ago and it was wonderful. Accomodations lovely, service perfect and dogs were not allowed in the dining room. Has it changed?
