Shouldn't have trusted old review
Several of my family members had read one review on the web of Dogwood Lodge and it sounded perfect for us. I had two siblings and their families who were going to stay here also. We were going to be in Radford for two nights and we were not going to be in the motel room very much, as we were attending a reunion at Riverside Park one day and staying with family the other day.
That being said, we were very disappointed with the accommodations. I will say that the room was very inexpensive, that is a good point. But, having traveled and stayed at smaller, older motels in different towns (inexpensive also) Dogwood Lodge was not up to standard.
Good point (1) nice view , (2), inexpensive, (3) they allowed pets with a small fee and also had smoking rooms. (4) sheets smelled clean (5) peaceful area.
Our Room- Bad point (1) Badly soiled carpet (2) Cover of air conditioner was off and the air conditioner was spitting cold water over the bedspread, (3) Ceiling tiles were missing and not replaced after an apparent roof leak (4) Maid service did not replace towels for second day and did not refill toilet tissue or soap and did not make up the beds. (5) An awful moldy/musty smell permeated the room, also mold on tile in bathtub ( We went to WalMart and bought Lysol spray before we would step in the tub (6) Lamps and outside light had no bulbs in them, also a street light in parking lot was broken with the glass/plastic laying around next to parking area.
My brother's rooms was somewhat better, but also the mold smell was very strong and he said his mattress was very lumpy. He checked out and did not stay the second night and took a loss on his reservation money-wise.
Please, if you plan to stay here, ask to look at the room before you lay down your money. I won't stay here again.
