Definitely Grows on You!

We stayed for three nights over Labor Day weekend. Overall, we were sad to leave the hotel and had a positive experience there.
The bad:
1. We requested a smoking room but got a non-smoking room instead. There were no smoking rooms to move us to, unfortunately. In addition, the hotel stated that we requested non-smoking, which means they're records were incorrect. I don't know if there was their fault or the booking agent's fault.
2. The room we had was old. It certainly wasn't fancy, or even pretty.
3. This is a really small complaint, but one of the drink vending machines wasn't working, and one of the onsite grills wasn't working either.
The Good:
1. Though the room seemed old, it was well-maintained. The room was spotless when we arrived, and was spotless each day after housekeeping.
2. The grill by the pool was so handy! We saved so much money between having a mini fridge, a microwave, and the grill that we rented a moped while there. In fact, we didn't eat out once. At night, around the pool and patio of the grills, they lit bright tiki torches that really lent the area ambience.
3. The pool looks small and disappointing when you pull up to the hotel, but it was really nice. Because it's a small hotel, the pool was never crowded. It's bigger once you're actually in it. It was kept very, very clean without tasting or smelling too strongly of chlorine.
4. The movies by the pool at night were a major bonus.
5. The location is great in the sense that you can walk one block to get coffe, one block to get ice cream, and just a couple of blocks for restaurants and everything else you need. It's a bit far from the Assateague beach, but NONE of the hotels are very close.
The management was polite, but not particularly friendly or overly helpful. (A person was at the desk as we looked for a map amongst ourselves, and did not offer to help.)
Really, the small things about this place add up to a great experience. It was a little pricey for the level of the room we got, but it was Labor Day, so I found it acceptable.
