Great place to stay
By ,
I was a little bit nervous to stay in this hotel, 'cause the price was surprisingly low comparing to some other hotel. But I don't have any regrets now. The interior of hotel is unique. We had an inside view. And even though the doors are pretty thin and you can here people in the corridor, there was no noise coming from the lobby and dining area. The room was average, nothing special. Exactly as you can see on multiple pictures. I assume they all are the same. Clean, a little bit boring, but with a huge HDTV (I think it was almost 50"). We took an elevator to 11th floor (the 12th floor has luxurious rooms and access there is allowed only by using your room card). The view is awesome!!! Hotel is very pretty indeed. The best part of our stay there was a breakfast buffet. So delicious! Lady, who was cooking omelets, is the best! It really worth money paid for it. I will definitely stay in this hotel again. Great price, yummy food, nice exterior.

AARP - I don't know why I ever joined
By ,
Almost everything I have read about AARP supporting Social Security cuts is against it. Where does AARP get the nerve to claim it has their member’s support to make this statement when in reality, the majority of the members are against these cuts. Is AARP stupid, or am I? And where is AARP, the “powerful retiree lobbying group,” that’s afraid to lobby Congress about finding out where our 700 billion dollars went and who it’s “helping?” Here’s a thought, the banks that are responsible for people losing their homes because the banks made bad deals, get 700 billion dollars by blackmailing the country and now they’re going to get these homes back so they can resell them. Now that’s a good deal!!! You want to talk about terrorism. . .this is corporate terrorism!

One Mom, 3 kids, happy stay
By ,
We were completely impressed with the lobby of this beautiful hotel. The bell staff were prompt and helpful, the valet attendants greeted us warmly, the concierge was knowledgeable if maybe a bit overworked. The staff in both the gift shops were fun to talk to. The room was more than satisfactory, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. My kids fought each other with the roll pillows so I had to keep putting them away in the closet. My only complaint and it's no big deal- the pool is a small indoor pool, not a very fun family pool, more of an execise pool which makes sense because it's in the Fit Club, connected to the hotel. There is so much to do in DC besides get in a pool, that was not a problem for us. We stayed on the Club Level which I recommend. A visit to the Club Lounge was just what we needed for a quick break after sightseeing. We did not try any of the restaurants in the hotel, the timing of our appetites and our geographic location just didn't coincide. We did order a room service pizza, which turned out to be delicious and not too pricey. I wish we had tried Grand Slam, it looked fun. The lobby is full of pretty photo opps. I have plenty of pictures of me and the kids in the midst of the grand atrium. Loved it here and will be going back soon.

Not a day disappointed
By ,
We had our 2 boys with us for our first ever visit to DC and our first stay at a Hyatt in years and we were just absolutely delighted and satisfied with EVERYTHING!!! Our room was plenty big enough and clean!!! The lobby staff and concierge were very helpful and accomodating. This location was perfect after walking everywhere we did taking notice to other hotels we looked at staying before we booked here! I do have to give the staff at Grand Slam Cafe their well-deserved props mostly including Jen and John, and our 2 servers Emma and Moumou (sp?) They treated us like we were celebrities and were absolutely amazing with our small boys, ages 2 and 3. I can't go on enough about how great this staff was-we'd go back there just because of them....very satisfied guests and I'm sad to see how many negative comments I do see on such ridiculous things to complain about. Sure, our toilet and sink leaked a little, so what...notify maintenance, throw a towel down and go about your business. Slow going drain in the tub/shower...oh well...i think that can be common anywhere....I've had bad experiences at the Ritz-Carlton and now see that I don't have to pay that kind of money to have the niceness we experienced at the Hyatt...thank you...can't wait to make another road trip and visit again!!!! Oh, and a tasty breakfast buffet with a wonderful omelet station, delicious juices and a nice variety of cold and hot items....

Beautiful Place!
By ,
First the dislike: the pool is a little small and in an enclosed room so when you get 7 or 8 kids in the pool yelling, "Marco-Polo" it gets a little loud. The hotel itself is outstanding, beautiful views from our room on the 7th floor. The staff is outstanding, first class all the way. Check in is at 3:00pm, but we arrived there early and they gave us a room at around 10:00am! We we're only staying overnight and I'm sorry to say that because I would have enjoyed staying another 6 days. The hotel restaraunt, the sports bar, all of their staff is FIRST CLASS. I would recommend this hotel even if it wasn't perfectly located centrally to where you need to be, business or pleasure. I would and plan on going back to do more sightseeing in D.C. Even if our politicians leave a bad taste in your mouth, The Grand Hyatt at 1000 H street will leave you impressed with our Nation's Capital city!

Not a family hotel
By ,
This hotel is definitely not for families with kids. The swmming pool is a joke. Its 50 ft long and just 3.5 ft deep even my 6 yr old found it shallow. And surprisingly they didnt even have cartoon channels on TV. And we were stuck with the two restaurants down in the hotel. And the rooms were a bit cramped for 2 adults and 2 kids. Concierge was either missing or busy on phone and not very helpful. Being in DC for the first time had trouble and were given very vague directions to get around. and As for plus points, hotel looks grand inside. Ideal for conferences I guess. The internet charges were 9.95 for a slow connection and for a dependable connection had to pay 25 bucks since I had a presenation to make. Startbucks on site was ideal.
