Portage House Motel, Lewiston

I spent another enjoyable week at The Portage House Motel this summer. I am always pleased with the service (you can't ask for two nicer more accommodating people than Sue and Dave). Obviously other people feel the same way because I keep seeing the same guests there every year. They are now offering horse and carriage rides through Lewiston and what fun that was for my family and me. My grandkids just loved it (especially big Jack the horse). I recommend it to anyone who wants a nice relaxing scenic trip through town especially on warm summer evening. As always the room was clean and comfortable and the landscape beautiful. I highly recommend The Portage House Motel to anyone visiting the area. I'm already planning my next stay.

We have been staying every Spring in early May for 9 years in Lewiston to fish Lake Ontario. We have been very happy with the Portage House and Sue runs a great establishment. She has always been very helpful to help make our stay first class. The rooms are clean and very quiet for our 6 night stay each year. We like the centrality of the Portage location with a Tops grocery store within walking distance and Lewiston is a beautiful town to visit. Thanks Sue for making our stay the best value for our money in the Niagara area. Beds are really comfortable and not lumpy! Ron

We came to Lewiston because a family member was in the local hospital. It was a stressful time. The trip was unplanned, and we did not know how long we would be there. The owner was wonderful. She did everything she could to make the stay comfortable. The motel is close to everything in Lewiston. The room was very comfortable and well kept. The rate was exceptionaly reasonable. I've never written a review for a hotel or motel before, but I was so impressed with the wonderful service at The Portage House, that I felt I had to acknowledge it. While there are many positive things to be said, the best way that I can express my opinion is to say that we felt almost as if we were staying with out-of-town friends than at a motel. My deepest thanks to everyone at The Portage House for your hospitality, and my sincerest endorsement to those who are looking for an excellent place to stay in Lewiston.

PRICE is GREAT EXCELLENT SERVICE Overall this is a great pleace to see Lewiston from,it is walking distance from everything.The owner has always treated me like I am important, and that I matter,that is why I keep going back !

The cops were called after numerous talks from owners. The cops were called and the only reason that they weren't removed was to save them from a dwi. The poor owners had to put up with the drunks until 1 am. Probably disgusting was one of them

I should have read the reviews before staying in this disgusting place. Junk purple car and motor cycle parked right in front of office. The place is very trashy looking. Dingy dirty looking towels. Very hot in room. The worst part of the stay was witnessing the owner raise her voice to the guests for no apparent reason. Very strange and unpleasant experience. I would NEVER recommend anyone stay in this dump. Drive a few miles and stay in a nice place. The rooms are way over priced and the owner is downright rude. she should be happy to have guests staying in her dump. She may want to take a few classes on customer service. I can see this business going under.

I grew up in Lewiston and I always stay at the Portage House Motel when I am in town. If you are looking for a place that is clean, comfortable,convenient, and reasonably priced this is it. The owners always make you feel welcome. The landscaping is beautiful, and if you have not been in a while, wait until you see the recent renovations. I was in town this trip for an extended period of time and having a nice quiet place to return to each night after a stressful day is priceless. On a personal note, I will be forever grateful to Sue for her kindness. kr

Their website says continental breakfast is available but when we checked in we were told its only a motel-the tone it was said in felt like we were not very welcome - There was just hotwater available and a few muffins that were not so fresh.

We had an upstairs room and it was comfortable and clean and was not moldy and the people that we spoke to that worked the desk were nice. The beds were ok but not the most comfortable. It is a nice place to stay for the money and a convenient location. There was only coffee in the morning though.
