7 reviews for Dunhams Bay Resort, Lake George
tomis wedding
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/02/08
The place was outstanding with its view of the lake. The rooms were recently redone very nicely. The resturant was extremely good with outstanding food. But the thing that impressed us the most was the staff. They were the most accomadating people my wife and I have encountered in our travels. Mark and Lynn inparticular. We had an oustanding experience at the resortand will make a point of going there again. Well done Dunham Bay John and Peg Tomis

Not what I thought
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/08
Staff was friendly, however the place is run down and does not look like the pictures on web site. Room was not what I expected as I rented a suite with two bedrooms. Expected alot nicer for the big bucks I paid for it. Other guests staying were the rudest I have ever seen. Sunken Sports Bar was dismantled. Very misleading web site. Would never go back and never recommend to anyone.

Beautiful and quiet place to be on Vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/26/06
You can have open fire barbecue and the kids run around the motel because it has so much space. You also can have a lot of fun with your family even if you decide not to go out in town because it has a lot of activities, such as Tennis, Table tennis (Indoor & outdoor), Basketball, Indoor Swimming Pool and Spa, Playground, and Shuffleboard.

Dunham's Bay is a total bust
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/05
We reserved a 2 bedroom apartment for a week in August 2005 - these apts were only available on a weekly basis - and were required to put down a deposit equal to half of the week's stay. When we arrived on Saturday to check in, we were astounded at how run-down the place was. The unit was dirty, it smelled of mold and mildew and was completely unacceptable for my family. The "sandy beach" was no more than a small strip of sand amidst a boat marina which you could access only by crossing a very busy street. How much can you "enjoy" the beach with the sound of cars whizzing by. And the "outdoor pool" was the size of a small wading fountain. We could not fathom staying here for even 1 night and the hotel will not refund our deposit. Very disappointed........

Great location but rundown
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/05
First of all, you can't beat the location ... on the quiet side of the lake with priceless views. But the place has become quite rundown in the six years we've been coming here. Carpets are heavily stained, linens don't match, bedspread was matted and pilled and looked ancient, doorframe was cracked, surfaces like doors, etc. were spotted and dirty. If it were half the cost, I'd feel less judgmental. But they get fairly high prices for a place in need of so much work. No coffeemakers in the room (which is a must for me, especially since there is no coffee available in the lobby or restaurant until 7:00 and I'm up at 6:00), vending machine was empty, air conditioner sounded like a jet engine (and, even at that, did not keep the room cool). So, while we love the location, we'll look elsewhere for our 2006 Lake George Visit.

New Jersey Vacationer
By Charlene, 06/14/04
We stayed at this lodge last year. Our first cabin was not suitable for us and we were graciously moved to a better accommodation. They have a great indoor pool and jacuzzi which we used mostly in the evenings. Service was pleasant. The only drawback was their distance to any kind of activity (about 5 miles) and the steep hill you had to walk down to the beach area. We know that many of the Lake George properties have a steep walk but we were disappointed because the brochure led us to believe the beach was right on the land where the housing was - it's not, it's across a busy road. Overall, it's a very nice place to stay if you don't mind the walking and the travel to town.
