No Longer a Public Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/11
Loved it, Owned By Local Union #3, Completely gutted and restored by Union Workers, Many of whom were out of work due to the economy. Awesome Job.

BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL PLACE!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/11
I understand that an electrical union bought the santorini resort. Few yrs ago. I haven't stayed there yet!! But it looks beautiful and very very clean, a lot of rooms, and their even building a mansion on the site. Keep up the good work! I'm sure the union members and their families will be enjoying themselves there. I'm hoping on staying there myself next year. I just took a ride out to the north fork to have a look around and wow, it's really a beautiful beautiful place.

worst place I've stayed
By Jackie, 7/10/07
This place was horrible... so not worth the money. The place had not been updated in 40 years and the cleanliness was questionable. I was also charged double for the the stay and service to correct was horrendous.

Wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/06
I had my bacholerette party there with 11 girls and I must say we had the best time. The owner and the people that work there were wonderful. The pool was soon clean and keeped up. The room furniture was a little old but the room was clean and very comfortable. We had a large private deck ourside the 3 bedroom suite we had and were able to put out lounge chairs and hang out with out being disturbed. We had a continental breakfast which was bagles, fruit and coffee cake with coffee. The people I went with are all going back with there families, for the fishing, pool the miniture golf and the overall people that work there. Do not miss the sunsets they are increadiable.

The most discusting place ever.
By Eliza, 8/29/05
My husband finally got a few days off and we decided to go away last minute. I happened to call this hotel and the owner's wife made this place sound like heaven, so I booked it for us and our friends. Four children all together. When we got there the owner took the money upfront for three nights and then we went to see the rooms. I have never in my life seen such a discusting place . There was mold growing everywhere. There were huge dead bugs all over the bathroom and shower. But that was the least of the problems, I put my child on the bed to change him and he sank into the mattress. My husband complained about the mattress and the room and lack of air condition and they finally came after 2 hour to fix things. The mattress that they took out of the room made me sick to my stomach and I am a doctor! It was filthy filthy filthy discusting. We decided to leave and the owner would not give us our money back. He convinced us that he can give us better rooms, so we stayed that night. If it was up to me I would have left middle of the night. There were huge huge insects flying on my children, and there were bugs coming out of the mattress. When we complained to Alex (the owner) and told him that we want to leave he said fine but kept the money for three nights even though we stayed for one (horrible) night. This place needs to be shut down. Both the hotel and the owner are discusting. He ruined the few days of vacation that we had with our children!

No No No to Santorini
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/05
I'm a local and we had our daughters wedding in our back yard last year. Each time we went to the Santorini to get a price quote it was a different number. The Santorini was dirty and put together with spit and glue. I checked all the local hotels/motels, the Santorini was not even in the Maybe's. If you want small, motel like atmosphere the Mattituck Motel is fine and clean. The Jamesport Motel is clean and they have 3 properties. So you drive 20 minutes to get where you want to be, it's better than the creepy feeling we had there. The Santornini is a beautiful location, but it's too bad it so poorly run. There are some wonderful B&B's in Cutchogue, but they are pricey.

Agree with Seth from Nutley, NJ
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/28/05
Everything Seth said in his review is totally true, except I guess he didn't stick around to see the bugs. My husband and I stayed at this hotel with friends while out on Long Island for a wedding. Our rooms were infested with what looked like water bugs. And, to top everything off, the motel ran out of hot water as we were getting ready for our friend's wedding reception. We also found that the hotel staff were less than attentive and completely unhelpful.

The Santorini beach \"Resort\"
By Seth, 8/30/04
It all begins when my family has to go to a wedding in Cutchogue NY on the weekend of 8/20/04. We drive in from Jersey on that Friday and pull up to the Santorini hotel/motel (as the sign states when you pull up).

Little history first, I found out that we were going to this motel, and that the entire wedding was staying there as well, so I check out their website and it doesnt look that bad, well from the aerial shot at least. I see a pool and a private beach so I think to myself how bad can it be. Boy, was I wrong....

So, as I was saying, we drive up to the motel and everyone was speechless... Not from the beauty of the motel, but from the pure disgust that we all had in our stomachs because we had to stay in this place and get ready for a wedding there. As you may be guessing, it was absolutely disgusting...The pool was dirty, the private beach was more like a huge sand dune, and the rooms....Oh man, the rooms... We were told by the very helpful woman at the front desk when we checked in (and paid $400+ by the way) that we had the best room in the place. So, the positive person that I am thought that, ok, well maybe it wont be that bad. Wrong Again... We go to our room and try to open the door, 3 tries later we got it open, and get hit in the face with the most disgusting mildew and dust smell that I have ever experienced in my life. The air conditioner was off, and it was around 100 degrees in the room, so I turned the air on to get a huge cloud of dust directly up my nose. 10 minutes later, after power sneezing the dust out of my nostrils, and hearing the 3 other people that I am staying with in utter shock that we were experiencing this, I looked at the curtains to find that they were covered in mold and mildew. The bathroom, also covered in mildew and mold looked like the last time it was cleaned was in the late 70s (Im being generous)...The beds had blue 1970 disco headboards, and when we pulled back the covers we found bugs on the pillows, and hairs...Yes hairs on the pillows.... Granted we were all disgusted, but we were so bamboozled by the whole situation, and that we had to be at a rehearsal dinner in about 10 minutes, we brushed it off and went and had a good time at the dinner. At the dinner we talked to other people that were staying at the motel and it just intensified everyones anger because everyone was complaining about the accommodations that they had. So we all get back to the motel and we decide that we are out of there, so we leave our keys at the desk and head to the best western in Riverhead, which I give 5 stars by the way. The next morning, our knight in shinning armor, and quite a fire cracker, (lets just call her AC) showed up at the motel and checked everyone out of the hotel and got our money back, well with the help of two visits from the police...

So all in all, the wedding itself was a great and beautiful time, but if anyone ever goes to Cutchogue for any reason, DO NOT STAY AT THE SANTORINI!!!! That is if the board of health doesnt close it down first!
