Stay away...Mold, Hair, etc
Our stay at the White Sands Resort was the most horrible experience I have ever encountered for a motel/hotel, etc. I have traveled and stayed in hotels from Massachusetts, where we live to England, Greece, and South Africa, and at 42 years old, I have never seen anything like this. You should "be paid" for staying there, not have to pay.
Room 1.....The owner (who i will say was very nice), said he decided to give us a complimentary upgrade, so we felt special. We opened the door to room 18 and we (myself, my partner and our best friend, BFF) were slammed with the oder of mothballs. RED FLAGS...Hello...BIG RED FLAGS! The bathroom had hair all over the floor, towels that smelled like they were left in the washer wet for 2 weeks before being put in a dryer(You know that smell?). Add the mothball smell to that and what to you got? The White Sand Resort on the P-town line! Oh yes...and the widows didn't lock.....there was full access to our rooms on the ground level. So, we pulled down the sheets and there was hair and the pillows had several lovely shades of yellow and gold sweat stains....And they were covering the pillows. So, any one who wants to stay healthy on a vacation would go to the manager and request a new room.
Room 2....Well, we were given another room, which the nice manager (again, he was very nice) upgraded for us again. Now we open room 24 and we were thrilled that the mothball smell was a 9 on a scale of 9-10, compared to the 10 in room 18. This room had hair on the bathroom floor as well, a very dirty smelling carpet , and now we had a kitchenette with a sticky table and dirty dishes....The fridge had visible mold in it and on the floor in front of it. The pillows were not as stained, but smelled terribly dusty and stale. The blue sheets on our bed had a white stain in the middle of it, under the bed spread...UGH! If 20/20 did an ultra violet bacteria study on this place, it would blow the look of a "head shop" away. There is no smoking in the rooms that are closely knit and shared chairs out the door...So when your neighbor smoked at night, it was right outside our window and blew in to our room, right where our heads were, because the bed was in front of the window. My partner and I slept on top of the bedspread and covered with our beach towels and that is the god's honest truth. If we could have found another place to stay on short notice, we would have left, but face it....It's Provincetown in July!
The pool was ok, but the so-called in door pool was a broken down green house and I mean broken down....
Yes, the couple things that are true about the advertisement for the White Sands Resort...Its on the P-town line and on the beach. You have to walk a half a mile to get to the water, but its on the beach...Just wear shoes so you don't cut your feet on beer caps and glass. It also has internet...You have to walk your computer to the office to use it, but it is there.
What concerned me the most was when I brought the owner in and he didn't think it it smelled bad, and stated that it wasn't as clean because he had only 2 cleaning people who had 15 rooms each, per day. Its a lot for them. Well, I think its a lot to spend $800 per week for a place to stay for the serivce they offer...PS. The photos of the rooms and resort on their site must have been taken when it was first opened, years ago....It is a first class dump! I am sorry to report this to any viewer, but for god sakes, spare yourselves.
I strongly recommend you stay anywhere but here.
