My Favorite Place!!
By jodi, 09/08/09
White Sands is my favorite place to visit. My family and I have been staying at the resort for over ten years. The resort is very pet friendly, the views from the oceanfront rooms are great, and the beach is wonderful. I have and will continue to go back to the Resort, as well as, recommend it to others.

Budget Beautiful Bountiful Beach
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/09
It may not be visually impressive, quaint or classy but it is excellent lodging for very little in the absolute HEART of Provincetown. An easy 1/2 mile bike or walk into town. Rooms are spacious. CLEAN. (OK! you often get an ugly whiff of mildew in the corners- bring Lysol.) Bathrooms are modern and full of nice clean towels. Though the hot water will scald you if you don't watch it. You will pay almost half of what it costs else where this close to the tip in PTown and a calm tidal beach is 500 feet away. At low tide you can walk out with your lawn chair and sit in the Atlantic on a sand bar in 2 inches of water with no enormous scary waves. THIS is good. Our room had a lovely view of the ocean. It was fully equipped with a good TV, coffee maker, small refrigerator and Microwave --- down right decent for a budget hotel. All this with a bonus of honest management. I left my purse in the night stand and called to ask them to mail it. THEY DID, as soon as possible with nothing missing. THANK YOU, MARIA So, if you are tight for funds do not over look this ragged gem. It is perfectly situated and completely adequate for the frugal heart.

Stay away...Mold, Hair, etc
By terri, 07/14/08
Our stay at the White Sands Resort was the most horrible experience I have ever encountered for a motel/hotel, etc. I have traveled and stayed in hotels from Massachusetts, where we live to England, Greece, and South Africa, and at 42 years old, I have never seen anything like this. You should "be paid" for staying there, not have to pay. Room 1.....The owner (who i will say was very nice), said he decided to give us a complimentary upgrade, so we felt special. We opened the door to room 18 and we (myself, my partner and our best friend, BFF) were slammed with the oder of mothballs. RED FLAGS...Hello...BIG RED FLAGS! The bathroom had hair all over the floor, towels that smelled like they were left in the washer wet for 2 weeks before being put in a dryer(You know that smell?). Add the mothball smell to that and what to you got? The White Sand Resort on the P-town line! Oh yes...and the widows didn't lock.....there was full access to our rooms on the ground level. So, we pulled down the sheets and there was hair and the pillows had several lovely shades of yellow and gold sweat stains....And they were covering the pillows. So, any one who wants to stay healthy on a vacation would go to the manager and request a new room. Room 2....Well, we were given another room, which the nice manager (again, he was very nice) upgraded for us again. Now we open room 24 and we were thrilled that the mothball smell was a 9 on a scale of 9-10, compared to the 10 in room 18. This room had hair on the bathroom floor as well, a very dirty smelling carpet , and now we had a kitchenette with a sticky table and dirty dishes....The fridge had visible mold in it and on the floor in front of it. The pillows were not as stained, but smelled terribly dusty and stale. The blue sheets on our bed had a white stain in the middle of it, under the bed spread...UGH! If 20/20 did an ultra violet bacteria study on this place, it would blow the look of a "head shop" away. There is no smoking in the rooms that are closely knit and shared chairs out the door...So when your neighbor smoked at night, it was right outside our window and blew in to our room, right where our heads were, because the bed was in front of the window. My partner and I slept on top of the bedspread and covered with our beach towels and that is the god's honest truth. If we could have found another place to stay on short notice, we would have left, but face it....It's Provincetown in July! The pool was ok, but the so-called in door pool was a broken down green house and I mean broken down.... Yes, the couple things that are true about the advertisement for the White Sands Resort...Its on the P-town line and on the beach. You have to walk a half a mile to get to the water, but its on the beach...Just wear shoes so you don't cut your feet on beer caps and glass. It also has internet...You have to walk your computer to the office to use it, but it is there. What concerned me the most was when I brought the owner in and he didn't think it it smelled bad, and stated that it wasn't as clean because he had only 2 cleaning people who had 15 rooms each, per day. Its a lot for them. Well, I think its a lot to spend $800 per week for a place to stay for the serivce they offer...PS. The photos of the rooms and resort on their site must have been taken when it was first opened, years ago....It is a first class dump! I am sorry to report this to any viewer, but for god sakes, spare yourselves. I strongly recommend you stay anywhere but here.

WATCH OUT
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/07
When arriving at the resort the check in process was horrible. Front desk attendent was slow and rude. Took almost 1/2 hour just to get checked in. We reserved a beachfront room, but upon arrival the room smells SO musty, We couldn't stay there. Then, we were shown a 2nd floor room, which was smaller then we reserved. When asking for the rate adjustment the owner's son was EXTEMELY RUDE!! Pools are old and dirty, rooms smell very musty and were not updated. The outside of the building was run down. For the price we paid it was our worst stay ever in Truro. This is our favorite town to visit, next year we will be going back to Horizon's Beach Resort. I advise you, DO NOT Stay here!

The place was great...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/24/07
Only had a couple of days to get away to the Cape and we were lucky to have landed at this place. I booked a beachfront, but when getting the room, it was in the middle of the complex. A quick check back with a most cordial (and quite attractive) hostess and we were moved to beachfront. Beautiful.. The large patio door opened right out to a great view of the ocean. Amenities were there, bathrooms clean, queen bed comfy. The small floor in the kitchen area was a little sticky, but my friend asked for a mop and she eagerly cleaned it. The nights were quiet and serene - with the waves hitting the shore and a bright full moon. The staff was friendly, courteous, and accommodating. I will definitely return.

Avodi this motel
By Geri, 07/23/07
We were given a better room, it was beachfront. The room was filthy, dirty stained carpet. The housekeeper was cleaning room and tried to say the stains just happened but they looked numerous and old. Headboard was falling off wall and the dust was over an inch thick. This is one of the worst motels I have ever been in.

Deceptive Tactics
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/06
Pros: two pools; indoor and outdoor and the hot tub, comfy beds, refigerator and microwave, effective a/c unit, water pressure/temperature for shower and sink, pet friendly, TV with cable, private beach, deck view to beach. Cons: Deceptive marketing tactics; poor room maintenance; I could see the exterior of the hotel was renovated, but there were not much changes to when we stayed in July 2003. They rebuilt their office but was not completed yet. We were not given the room that we reserved for $179 a night. I requested a room at the end of the unit with a deck facing the beach and was assured it was clean and a newly renovated room. It was not as advertised on their website. I was very disappointed and was shocked by the smell of the room. The room smelled musty and triggered my astma symtoms. I have to ask for a room deodorizer and desinfectant to kill the unbearable smell. The room was prep for only two and I have to ask for more soap and towels. The maids dressed the beds but did not change the linens. The curtains were very dusty and the rug was moldy. No window view to the sea. The toilet did not flush well. For all the experiences I have had of staying in hotels throughout the country, I felt cheated. That room was worthed less then $100 a night. It is pretty obvious why they always have vacancy. We certaintly will NOT choose this motel again. If you ever want to stay here ask them to show you the room first before you pay and if you do not want a dissapointment don't reserve in advance. You most probably won't get what you reserved.
