Really bad
By Liz ONeill, 8/8/10
I was placed in this establishement because of a fire in my apartment (@ landlord's expence) When i was given my room (#25) there was no shower curtian or hooks, and there were little bugs crawling in the tub. I went to put my clothes away in the dresser and there were dead cockroaches. (I last saw a live one in the shower) I stayed there a total of 5 days. Never got the shower curtian or the hooks for it. There was also this issue of the room smelt like wet dog, the carpet was damp, and the blanket on the bed was covered in a little black hairs which i found out later were from a little dog of that color. I am highly allergic to mold and have gotten very sick from being in that room. Also the front door stuck so badly that you had to pretty much slam yourself into it to open the thing. I honestly dont know how that place hasn't been shut down yet.

Would rather sleep in street
By William, 9/27/09
When we stayed last year we were told that it would be completely renovated by this year. So I convinced my friends to give them another try(We had stayed in a renovated room, our friends in the older rooms). When we showed up it looked just the same, no work had been done that we could see and three of our rooms were in the older section. We were told we were too early(11:45a.m.) our rooms wouldn't be done until 1p.m., so we paid for our rooms and told her we would be back. We returned around 6p.m. and when I went in my room the bathroom was dirty and there was mold on the plastic bath mat. I went to the manager and she had the housekeeper come and they said they would clean it. She dried out the tub and stuck the moldy bath mat back into the tub. My friend's non-smoking room smelled of smoke, and they we told it was just the air freshener they used. So we just decided we would get bleach and air freshener and take care of it ourselves. Out of the four rooms we rented only one was O.K.. Here are a list off all the problems we had in the other three... besides our room there was mold on the shower curtain(not just a spot, the whole inside), our toilet wouldn't flush, leak under one of the sinks, two large burn holes in the blanket, and all the rooms smell of smoke. When I went to check out I saw a sign behind the desk that listed the rates($20 less that what we paid) and asked the desk clerk if they were the current rates and he said yes. When the manager came so I could tell her all the problems we had she said "All I can do is tell you I'm sorry and it won't happen again." So I asked her about the rates listed on the board, she told me they were September's rates and didn't apply now. I was so angry that she wouldn't do anything for us that it didn't dawn on me what she had said The date was September 27th. Need less to say none of us will ever stay there again.

3rd visit will not happen
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/09
Just how long does it take to renovate a place like this!! We made reservations for this place recently. Once we got there we paid for our rooms, 3 out of the 4 rooms we rented weren't fit to be in. We had mold on the shower curtians, the rooms smelled awful (smokey in the non smoking rooms), sinks that were leaking, toilets that didn't flush correctly (granted they were new), burns in the bed blankets, I could go on but I won't. We were quoted one price on the phone when reservations were made and we paid quite a bit more when we got there. Not the quoted price we were given. And upon makeing these complaints nothing was done to rite it. 2008 rooms weren't bad, but we gave it another chance this year, not next. We would never recommed this place to anyone!!! To answer the questions to think about: The experience: Not going to comment (it was that bad) Recommendation: NOT! Worth the time and money: Not at all

Reconsider if you are reserved here.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/07
Stayed just one night and moved to a different motel. This place looks all of the 50 years old that it is. Non smoking room had been smoked in, smelled of mold, no secutity locks on doors, very flat pillows, well worn sheets and cigarette burned blanket. Our bathroom lacked ventilation and was lit with no more than a single 40 watt bulb. A friend stayed in one of the "Few" renovated rooms, and although it was slightly better, the bedding was very poor. It is recently under new management, and they are trying hard, but the place really needs a total renovation to bring it up to minimum standards. Drive the additional miles if necessary to stay elsewhere.

Whenever Im in Barre, I will stay here.
By RodH, 8/11/07
I spent a total of almost 5 weeks from May through August at this Inn off and on. It is under renovation and I stayed in one of the recently renovated non-smoking rooms, everything was just fine. After 10 pm each night I turned my tv down because I thought it was too loud. It was very quiet each night. I was provided with all the comforts of home. My room had cable tv, wireless internet, a microwave, a small fridge, a comfortable bed with clean sheets and pillowcases. I didn't have to go out to resteraunts for every meal. This Inn is under new management, I saw many improvements happening during my stay. Before long this Inn will be a great place to stay especially if you are in Barre over a period of time. Any needs I had in regards to my stay were handled in a timely manner and I can't say enough good things. The past conditions reported in some of these reviews have changed for the better and when the renovations are complete, this Inn will be a great place to stay where you won't have to refinance your home in order to afford to stay there. A big THANK YOU goes out to the Owners and Management of the Budget Inn for making my stay a comfortable one. I hope to come back someday.

Ouch!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/07
Though the staff was exemplary, the facilities leave a great deal to be desired. Peeling wallpaper, falling down roof held up by 2x4's, VERY noisy area, an audience for all comings and goings, no blinds on the window. In fact, the curtain that was up was so sheer, that if my wife wore it as a wrap-around, my sex life would improve significantly. The 24 hour lighting shining into my room from the outside made all night reading without waking my wife a very simple thing. The wireless internet connection provided was flaky and rarely actually worked. 1 bar out of 5 on my wireless monitor. Nice microwave and TV. I imagine this would be an ideal location to find,.... prostitutes and druges. although the police station being right next door made me feel safe enough to move my handgun to under my pillow rather than in my hand all night.

Not a Place to say...horrible!!
By Sweetcheeks, 5/14/07
There wasn't anything good about it! If you want to stay some place that is clean, quite and not scary....That is family type setting....Then Don't Stay There. Also take note of the other reviews that says it is nice place. Notice how they could not spell, that says written by kids...that do drugs and rent the rooms to party.

Not as I expected
By marcie, 5/4/07
The place has had a major face lift in the past year. Newly done rooms are very nice and clean. The staff is helpful, polite and pleasent to be around. I would highly recommend staying at the Budget to anyone.

A waste of money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/06
I don't know how anyone could write a good review of this place. I am assuming those who did are the hotel staff because from beginning to end the experience was dreadful. No locks on the doors, the bathroom had not been cleaned, the floors were not vacummed, the non-smoking rooms had been smoked in, the fire detectors had been removed, no fire extinguishers, one of our own towels we brought was stolen, the staff we unapolegetic and unhelpful. You couldn't turn on the ac because of the smell, the wallpaper was dingy and peeling. I could go on...and on....
