"HOME AWAY FROM HOME"
By Suzanne, 2/14/11
I Arrived at the Red Roof Inn in the Middle of April, 2010, Needing a "Immediate- Safe Place", for myself, & my CAT!!! I Am 44 Years Old, and Throughout my Life I Never Really Stayed Much at Any Hotels, (Therefore, I Really DID Not Really Know What to expect)... When I Walked In the Lobby to Ask for a Room, I told The Desk Clerk I "A Safe Place to stay", for possibly a FEW weeks, or More.... Well, The RED ROOF INN Was Not Only "THERE FOR ME", They Accommodated me Above & Beyond Anything I would have Ever Expected!!!! I Mean, I had Assumed that staying at a Hotel, was just that... "Staying at a hotel".. Never Expecting The STAFF to be So Kind & Polite... Always Assuring me that if They could Help me With Anything, to "Please Let Them Know"... ( I HAD BEEN A little Nervous, BEFORE I Arrived At The Hotel) , But Then After I Did Arrive, & Got Checked in, I Felt a whole lot better.. The Guest Clerk had me CHECKED IN very Quickly, & Was Very Kind and Seemingly Caring, toward me. I Did Feel Better Before I Even GOT to my Room, I Felt WELCOME Already... When I Did Walk Into my room, I Felt a Sense of Peace, It Was SO CLEAN, COZY Looking, and Had the Perfect Amount of Lights, Air Conditioner and Heat Both Worked GREAT. The Bed Was Comfortable, and Everything was Perfect.(The Whole Room Was Just Lovely) . It Was Also SAFE & SECURE, & Very QUIET.. I Must Say, I Just Could Not Find Anything Wrong At All. Everything Was Perfect As My Stay Continued for Weeks..(It Began to Feel Like My "Home Away From Home"..Dealing With Pleasant + Kind STAFF, Who Respected Me and My Requests, if any. f I Had a Question, The "GUEST STAFF" Were Always EAGER to Answer ANY... They Were All Very personable, Always Assuring me that If There Was ANYTHING They Could Do For Me, to "Please Let Them Know"... I Heard This SAME STATEMENT from EACH AND EVERY GUEST CLERK, Over the Course of Weeks and Weeks... Very Polite, Kind, and Respectful. From The First Night I Checked Into The Hotel, The RED ROOF INN Continued to Be "THERE FOR ME".... What Started Out to be a Several Week Stay, Amounted to a Few Months of a STAY, & The Employee's Were Just GREAT toward me!! In Time, I met ALL the GUEST Clerks (As they work different Shifts), Going Down to get a cup of FRESH COFFEE (Which they always had there), Whoever WAS working behind the desk, would GREET me Kind & Polite.. Also I Remember There was a Night I wished I Had a extra blanket with me, It Was About 8PM At Night, And The Guest Clerk Did Not Hesitate to Give Me A Extra Blanket!!! Each and Every Desk clerk Was Kind, Seemingly Caring, and Even a Couple of them CHECKED on me!! No-Matter my circumstance, I Began to feel comfortable Speaking With the "clerks", From time to time, ( As I Passed Through For Coffee).... One Time I Had a Funeral to go to, ( During My Stay at the Red Roof,) The Front Desk Clerk "MARSHA", She Was Just So Very Kind, & Sympathetic, Making Sure She "Got me along my Way" Promptly.. ( Knowing That I had to travel that Day, in a Hurry).. I Really Did not Expect HALF the things the RED ROOF STAFF Did to Accommodate me. If I Needed ANYTHING , They Were ALWAYS There for me.. Feeling Just so comfortable "Staying" at the Red Roof Inn, I began to feel as if it was Truly a "little home" for me & my CAT . My Cat Loves The Red Roof, & The Staff As Well. All Being So Kind Toward Her, (As She Sat Outside, on the sidewalk) In The SUN.... . Also, The Maintance guys Were Fabulous!!! They would Fix , replace, Or look at ANYTHING I Requested. Great Service The Whole RED ROOF INN Staff Were "There for me"!!! Treated Me So Kind, & Respectful, Always Making Me Feel Comfortable, + SAFE.., They Will ALWAYS Be Remembered By Me in A VERY VERY GOOD WAY.

Worst Place We Ever Stayed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/11
My husband and I had a job where we had to drive all over the country, so we've stayed in a LOT of hotels. But without a doubt the Red Roof Inn in Parsippany New Jersey was the worst, most disgusting place that we have ever been. Upon first entering our room we noticed a dirty smell, and then as we set our bags down, saw rodent droppings along the baseboards. So we left the room and went back to the lobby, to request a different room. In hindsight, we should have just left then, but it was late, and so we tried again. Room two was worse than the first, we didn't see any rodent droppings, but noticed right away when we pulled the blanket down that apparently the previous tenant had a dog with them because the ENTIRE bed was covered with thick black fur. Not one or 2 hairs but hand fulls of it balled up under the bedding. So after we contacted the management AGAIN, and got that taken care of, it was time for sleep, or so we thought. As soon as we got into bed we noticed the toilet running and dripping.... Drip, drip, drip, all night long. Determined to stay, my husband turned off the water to the toilet, and we went back to bed. Until 1 hour later when even after being told, Housekeeping unlocked the door and came into the room. This was it, the last straw, so we decided not to spend another night, unfortunately due to our work and the fact that it was the holiday season, we were forced to spend another 2 weeks in that room. And everyday for 2 weeks the SAME Housekeeping staff opened our door and tried to come in the room at 8am, even after repeatedly being told not to, and every day we had to reach down and turn the water on for the toilet whenever we needed to flush. The Red Roof Inn in Parsippany is someplace that I would never recommend, not even for a single night, let alone 14, it is the worst staffed, worst managed hotel that we have ever had the misfortune to be stuck in.

Stinky Inconvenience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/21/10
The bathroom stunk very badly of mildew/ mold. I saw a bug which I think might have been a roach in the bathroom. The cleaning lady knocked and then immediately opened my room up with her key asking if I needed anything which was and rude. I needed toilet paper at 10:00 pm and had to wait for the cleaning lady the next morning. It is cheap for the location, but I could not wait to get out of there. Parking is horrible.

An okay place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/09
Some of the bathrooms have some mildew in them. Don't expect too much for the price you pay. It's pretty bare bones but for me it is very convenient and generally quiet. I have had no experience with bothersome cleaning personnel. Put the sign on the door and they will not bother you. I have stayed here numerous times and recommend it, with reservations as noted.
