nice experience/will revisit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/09
our family stayed at the beacon end of august 2009 I booked with the recommendation of a friend but after reading reviews i honestly considered cancelling our reservation but did not and glad i did not the staff very friendly the rooms were clean (older yes but clean) pool was great and the food at dads was wonderful all around we had a wonderful time at the beacon and didn't go broke. Those of you that have left negative reviews you know the saying if u cant say anything nice say nothing at all (try it) your neg. comments could sway others from staying there and missing out on a very affordable and enjoyable stay

Absolutely disgusting
By Shell, 08/14/09
We always stayed here for our summer week vacation when I was younger(probably 20+ years ago). My parents thought it would be fun/nostalgic to bring the grandchildren and, WHAT A DUMP! When we first walked in the room smelled like a diaper pail and musty. We were covering our noses and gagging. After airing out the room for a few hours it was just bearable. The bed was so uncomfortable I thought my back was breaking and I actually opted to sleep in the car(yes it was far more comfortable!). How mortifying for my parents to treat us to that disaster, my Mum still talks about how embarrassed she was. This place deserves a wrecking ball.

I HAVE GONE THERE FOR OVER 50 YEARS AND MY LAST VISIT IN 2009 WAS THE "PITS". A COMPLETE DISASTER. A RESERVED NON-SMOKING ROOM TURNED INTO A DISASTER. SMOKE FILLED HALLWAY, MUSTY ROOM YOU NAME IT, I WOULD NEVER GO BACK.....MASS. SENIOR RESIDENT

We shall return!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/09
I like to have a good breakfast to start off the day and The Beacon really filled the bill. Eveything was just perfect and the waiters were outstanding. We were with a senior group from New Bedford, MA and just returned from The Beacon on the 24th of June. 2009. The side trip to Squam Lake and the tour guides were very knowledgeable about the history and the wildlife that live in and around the lake and surronding hills. The accommodations were very good , the beds were confortable and the bathrooms and living quarters were very clean. Last but not least was the price: where else coud you go and receive such great food and top notch service for such a great price?

This is really the place to go
By ThomasL, 10/12/08
Went on a 4 day bus tour from New Jersey,44 people were on the bus,44 people were pleased. Can you imagine 9,yes 9 delicious entrees to choose from for the evening meal. And Wendy and the entire staff there are A one.We are a senior citizen group and not easy to please but we were pleased beyond all expectations, and my wife and I bus tour at least twice a year and have been doing this for the past 6 or 7 years. The shows were good, the tours very good and the staff there were outstanding in the service they provided and the friendliness they displayed.Hope to return in the near future. And the food was the quality to sate a gourmets taste plus his appetite.

DONT GO!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/02/08
I really cant understand how this place can have nice reviews unless the Very rude staff are actually writing them. There is nothing good about this place. (Maybe the food was decent but that was about it) Rooms are filthy, dirty, smell, rotten. I had a three night stay booke and only stayed one night and was praying for the night to be over so i can get out of there. I was there with my wife and two kids (3ys and 7mo) and had to upgrade to the Suite just to get a cleaner more acceptable room (cleaner if you consider spider, dust and moldy and absolutely unhospitable). The Service you ask? You will not find more rider people. The only upside was DAD's. All service there was pretty good including the food. DO NOT GO

nil customer service by sales Staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/08
Seriously. It was made worse because we had to deal with someone called Wendy who is possibly the rudest person our group has met in our travels. It was hair pulling to work this with her and since we started with her we had to continue with her. No follow ups from her once she got our deposit, never returned any emails. We were travelling form Europe and this was scary because what if we arrived and had no place to stay. There were some mix up with reservations (what do you expect) and the cold reception this woman gave us made us feel like leaving immediately. When there were hotel workers around she suddenly became sugary nice and the other times we thought we were in an antartica freezer. It was as tho she was doing us a favor or something. Very weird way to treat customers. We braved it out and tried to make the best of it. The hotel was close to the mountain so we were out most day (thank god). Anyone going to the beacon do not deal with this woman! The hotel had jacuzzis and pool and all that. The hotel was nice but somehow we all know how one wrong person can ruin the feeling. We would say you should go here but by all means do not do any business with this sales staff! It;s a mystery why any hotel would hire staff like this? Beats us.

Loved the suites
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/03/08
We stayed at the Beacon for the Easter Seal Ride In, 1/31-2/3/08. We had a suite that was very nice. The food at Dads is really good a little pricey though. The indoor pools are a little to cold and the stairs got to icy outside. The owner tends to be rude to his customers but the staff are very plesant.

Our Family Favorite
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/16/07
My husband and our two children, who are grown up now, have gone about 10 times and the kids still ask to go back. Accomodations which include rooms with jacuzzi, two indoor pools provide a relaxing family atmosphere. Close to miniature golf, ski resorts and specacular scenery. Great on sight restaurant with terrific food and ressonable prices.

Just the worst ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/11/07
Entering our room, there were spiders, and I mean big ones, hanging by the door. It would have just taken a broom by the housekeeping staff to clear them away but no one had taken the time to do it. There were spiders in the bathtub, spiders on the walls. The mattresses were terrible and the room smelled. I don't think it had been aired out for 5 years. Don't expect to get any sleep at the Beacon.
