What happened to class and integrity?
By ,
I've stayed at the Sise in before and found it pleasant enough, but when I returned after a few years later this past November the staff first sent me to the wrong room, I then discovered the television (in the correct room) wouldn't function (although the staff member fixed this), and finally, when I received my credit card bill the following month, discovered a $15 separate charge that, when I called the inn to inquire about it, was told that the desk clerk had made a mistake by originally under-charging us for the room and so the owner retroactively "fixed" this. I told the owner that this seemed strange and asked why I wasn't informed of this before I got my bill. She didn't have an answer. I also told her that it would be nice if the inn, being responsible for the mistake in the first place, would have tactfully absorbed the small fee. The woman politely declined. None of these things would prevent me from staying here again but it wouldn't be my first choice anymore. Small details but ones that can make a big difference when they begin to stack up.

This place has realy gone downhill over the years
By ,
We used to stay here for years. The current owners are really running this place bare. Everyone knows that hotels/inns get beaten up, and you need to constantly re-invest in the property to keep it up to snuff. On our last visit we slept on thread-bare sheets, showered in a moldy bathroom and noticed the same carpet in the rooms that have to be good 15+ years old. Who still even makes teal carpet????? Our days at the Sise are done.

We used to love the Sise Inn
By ,
My husband and I stayed at the Sise Inn 8 years (from the time it belonged to Someplaces Different in 2000 through the new owner). But this event happened in 2008 that soured us. We had called to inquire about special mid-week rates (per their website) during the summer months. A very nice person offered us a really great rate for our stay. We jumped at it. The person who made our reservation said they would mail our confirmation. After a few days when no confirmation arrived I called the inn to make sure everything was okay. I was rudely informed by the person who answered the phone that the rate was a mistake but they would honor it, but not expect that type of rate again in the future. This left a bad impression, but we thought since we had been staying there for so many years maybe someone was having a bad day. Finally we received our reservation confirmation in the mail with the rate circled and on it was a note indicating that the rate was a special rate from 2 months previously but they would honor it, just don't tell anyone about it. So finally the weekend arrived and we went to the Sise Inn, checked in and started our weekend. The next morning, we ran into the innkeeper. The first thing she said was that the rate we got would be honored but it wouldn't happen again and to not tell anyone about it. Plus she said that in front of other staff members. That was the last time we stayed at the inn. After all the years we had stayed there, after all the people we recommended the place to and this is how we were treated? We even offered to pay the full rate but I guess it was more important for them to punish us for it. So, if you get offered a special rate, turn it down and find somewhere to stay in Portsmouth. It's not worth the hassle you will get.

Not Very Accommodating!
By ,
Two of us stayed one weekend. Unfortunately, a person with our group had a medical emergency and needed to stay over with us putting 3 in the room. They could not/would not make an accommodation for this emergency situation. The person needed someone to look after her during the night and could not use a separate room. Since she could not travel, one of us had to sleep in a chair so she could use a bed. We will not be going back.

will definitely return!
By ,
I recently returned from our annual girl's weekend in Portsmouth, NH. We stayed at the Sise Inn and were extremely pleased with the large suites and comfortable surroundings. The staff was friendly and accomodating. Sitting in the homey breakfast area, you felt like part of a large family. The location of Sise Inn afforded the means to explore much of Portsmouth on foot. I never realized how much this city had to offer the curious traveler. We will probably return to the Sise at some future date and I would recommend it to anyone.

wonderful!
By ,
This place was amazing! The people there were lovely, they were helpful and friendly and full of conversation. the location was lovely, very close to everything, we were able to walk around the beautiful town which was 5 minutes walk from the inn. the room was beautiful, spacious, relaxing, comfortable. they were also very flexible about how long we were staying for... because we couldn't decided if we were going to stay for 2 days or more... but they said it didn't matter. some day i will come back, such a wonderful place. if you have the chance.... do visit and stay .... you won't regret it !

Victorian inn
By ,
We have visted about once a year over the past 7 years. This experience is more like a small hotel than bed and breakfast. The lobby and sitting rooms are lovely but the guest rooms are just adequate. Some rooms have more charm than others. Service is efficent but impersonal. Breakfast is help yourself to pre-packaged pastries and boxed cold cereals. With attention to details, the owners could make this place so much cozier and more welcoming. It left us a bit cold, particularly considering other choices in the Seacoast area.
