By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/4/10
okay so the place needs a make-over!!! The help at the front desk needs an attitude make-over!!! Seriously you get what you pay for!! This girl had no clue how to handle her job, or her appearance....scary!!! The help smokes out front ...thats a sure fire way to not stay there!!

Waste of my time
By James M, 5/2/08
I had reservation at White Birches Country Club And it was a bad experience (Note that I say had reservations I did NOT stay) From the reviews here the place seems like it would be a decent place to stay and the price was unbeatable, I should have known when I saw the price (you get what you pay for) When I first got there the place looked a little run down but that's not really a big deal to me I've stayed at some decent places in the past that looked pretty bad from the outside. I went in and it took the lady at the desk about 10 minutes to find my reservation I had made my reservation on expedia and apparently they need to go online every day to download there reservation (of course nobody had done this) I finally get to my room and there are no sheets on the bed and my reservation was for a king suite and this is a standard room with 2 doubles? (which I would have lived with) So I go back to the desk, which is across the street so I have to drive back every time I have to go to the desk, I get to the second room and the exact same thing and I'm starting to think this isn't going to well! So I go back to the desk yet again and the lady working the desk apologizes and tells me that she has been off for a while and she didn’t know which rooms were ready??(maybe it’s about time to find out) So she graciously upgrades me to a queen suite (my reservation was for a king suite) So I drive back to that room and it is a smoking room, and the room is absolutely disgusting there is a mini kitchen with green mildew all over the sink normally I could tolerate it but it smelt like a cigarette had died in there. Time for room 4 she yet again upgrades me to there corporate suites these rooms are much nicer, and would have been very nice to stay in especially after the previous rooms BUT the heat wont go on in this room and the first of May in Maine you need heat. At this point it's time to move on I think it was more than generous of me to give 4 chances and about an hour of my life.(now I just need to make sure they don’t charge me) I ended up staying down the street at the Comfort Inn which looked like a 5 star resort in comparison.

Comfortable and private
By Steve, 1/31/06
The White Birches has everything you'd want in Ellsworth- easy access to all points Downeast, friendly staff, a solid little golf course and a great restaraunt, CZY Gil's. Far enough out from downtown Ellsworth that getting on and off Rte 1 isn't a problem but still less than 3 minutes from the downtown area. Very convenient if heading out to Calais, Machias, Schoodic Point and towards Canada. Staff is very friendly and professional and food is fantastic. A pleasure to come back to year after year.

Breakfast Buffet
By heleny, 8/24/05
I only go to the White Birches for the Breakfast Buffet, which is hot, tasty, filling, inexpensive, and includes that staple of New England breakfasts...Baked Beans! You can eat all you like, the staff doesn't rush you and even during the busy summer season, sitting in the dining area overlooking the white birches golf course is relatively peaceful. They also have...well yes, golf..and rooms to spend the night.

Great value

Within 20 miles of Bar Harbor and the Acadia National Park. Room rates are reasonable and the rooms are decent.
