Going Downhill
We've stayed here four different summers. Last summers trip was spaced a couple of years from the three preceeding ones and it will be the last. Room choices include standard rooms with 2 double beds and 2 room suites. Don't be fooled by the word suite. This past year we took the suite. It was the same size as the standard room with a wall in the middle of it. The air conditioning only reaches one half of the suite with the door closed between the rooms so one half is cold and the other hot. The pull out couch in the livingroom half of the suite was the most uncomfortable bed imaginable. When it is pulled out there was no room to maneuver around it.
The price of the suite is considerably more, but know that four people would be more comfortable in the standard 2 bed room. The motels tennis courts are right behind the bedrooms so expect to hear it.
On the plus side, this is one of the few kid friendly places, on the beach in Cape May. Our kids enjoyed its proximity to the beach, the pool, tennis courts, shuffle board, bike rental nearby and small yard to run in. There is a resturant for breakfast and lunch on site but expect to pay top dollar. We tried it last summer and the food was served cold. The waitress was obviously not happy when asked to reheat the pancakes and cook the sausage until it was less pink.
We were disappointed with Coachman's last summer, but we have fond memories of the way it used to be.
