Hotel Sorak Park, Sokcho-Si

I just came back from Korea and I stayed at Hotel Sorak Park. The reason why I picked this hotel was its proximity to the park ie 5 minutes to the park. When I went there then I realised it was 5 minutes, yes but by cab. The nearest hotel to the park is Kensington hotel and this hotel is 1.4km from Hotel Sorak Park. I would say the park is 5 minutes walk from Kensington Hotel but 30 minutes walk(approximately 2km) from Hotel Sorak Park. It rained one day so I decided to take a cab from the entrance of the park back to the hotel. When I told the cab driver that I would like to go to Hotel Sorak Park, he wasn't too pleased cos the hotel wasn't really that far, it's just 5 minutes away. He tried to rip me off by quoting me a flat rate of 5,000 won. Please, it's not going to cost me even 2,500 won for just that 5 minutes journey and that clown wanted to charge me 5,000 won! I refused to be taken adventage of and I walked 30 minutes back to the hotel in the rain. So future travellers to Mt Sorak Park please take note, Hotel Sorak Park is 5 minutes by cab from the national park.

looks like it used to be a really nice hotel. Our room was pretty run-down, and it desperate need of updating. Not nearly as nice as expected by the hotel's website.

Although we only stayed here for the night, this hotel is really nice. If you wanna get away from the city and just relax near the mountains then this is where you should stay. Love it here!
