Not my choice for a lone traveler
This was my second stay there, both times with a large group, which always limits the options. I enjoyed it more four years ago; I felt that it had become a little run-down and needed to be updated. There were a lot of little irritations when it came to handling issues quickly - it seemed always to be too early or too late to take care of whatever was needed. Last time I found the lobby shops fun to browse; this time most of them seemed cluttered and not very appealing.
Many people who had requested non-smoking rooms were given very smoky ones.
Breakfast was fine, and my one dinner in the hotel was also okay, but grossly overpriced, with lots of tacked-on charges and taxes which didn't seem to apply anywhere else I ate in Tokyo.
The best deal was free high-speed internet connections in the room. They gave you extensive, confusing details about how to set up a dial-up connection, but I found out through word of mouth that if you asked, they would bring you a DSL modem and set it up for you. They did this very quickly, and extremely politely (the first one they brought was not functional, and the woman apologized as if she had broken my laptop, before returning two minutes later with another one!).
Overall, I would say that for a large group it was acceptable, but probably not where I would choose to stay if traveling alone.
