Very nice accommodations.
By ,
The Hotel was very nice, the staff was very accommodating. I didn’t realize you didn’t tip the staff as you do in the U.S. however I understand why. Everything in the hotel is so expensive. At first I thought is was just Tokyo but I found later that yes it is Tokyo although I could eat for far less in town than I could in the hotel. I was very disappointed with the buffet and the price I paid to eat like a bird. Overall it was a nice experience just a little pricey to feed yourself. I recommend anyone staying at the Keio Plaza Hotel should seek other restaurants around the area. There are many to choose from that are in walking distance.

Excellent location and staff
By ,
This was my 3rd. stay at Keio Plaza, and like my previous visits, everything was perfect. For a firsttime-visitor this hotel should be on the top of your list, as the location is unbeatable. With the shinjuku station within a few minutes walk, every attraction can be reached easily. You feel welcome and at home the second you walk in. The service (frontdesk, information & housecleaning) is really near-perfect too. Restaurants and cafés on the groundfloor are all worth a visit - especially the Korean Restaurant (I think the name was "Gokokutei") and Jurin Coffeehouse for an afternoon-snack. Pretty big, clean & well-appointed rooms that will satisfy most travellers. The Keio Plaza Hotel are good value for money in all departments, and i will definetely be coming back on my future visits to Tokyo. ***Highly recommended***

Great Staff and Location
By ,
Though this hotel is large, the staff is extremely courteous and helpful and you don't feel like you are just a number. All are bilingual to some extent and one should not have a problem in getting any help. The concierge desk is fairly fluent in English and will give you detailed info on the subway system down to track number for destination. The rooms are large. I was surprised by this and though we were told that only two people could stay in one room (we are a family of four), I know of some US hotels that would have put us all in a room that size. Location wise, it is great. Shinjuku Station is about 3 blocks away (one of the, if not the busiest station in Tokyo) as well as some major stores. West Shinjuku is known for electronics. I felt we had just as good of a selection in West Shinjuku than at Akiharbara. Overall, I would defintely go back and would recommend this hotel.

Keio Kool

So convenient since in Shinjuku & near Shinjuku station. Staff friendly & thorough. I started each day by going to the concierge & they printed out everything that I needed to navigate the subway system. Con: The rooms should be renovated if they want to claim to be a five star hotel and put a vent in the restrooms. Don't order room service breakfast...it's $30.

Great Location and Excellent Service
By ,
This hotel is in the first large highrise in Shinjuku (built 1979). It was the Intercontinental the first time I was there, and the service has remained high. There is a convienent bus to/from Narita (about $16), and all the usual features of a Tokyo 4-star plus hotel. Lastly, it is only about 3 blocks from the JR Shinjuku station, from which you can get anywhere. There is a kaiten (conveyor belt style) sushi restaurant about two blocks away, towards the station. You can fill up for about $10. Rates vary from about $180 to $300, for a twin/double. Definitely worth it if you get it on the low end of that range.

Great place to stay in Tokyo
By ,
Very good service. All hotel staff understood english and were very polite. I only had 1 piece of luggage yet there were 2 bell boys to accompany me to my room. One was to carry the luggage and the other was just there to introduce the room. And I did not have to pay tips for them. Subsequently I approached a bell boy for directions and he had maps to all the shopping locations in his pocket! This hotel also has a very good location. It is next to the train station and within minutes to major shopping areas. I took the limousine bus from/to the airport and was dropped/picked up right in front of the hotel lobby. This limousine bus cost the same as taking the train. Hotel also provided direct transport to the disneyland which is very convenient for tourists. The best part: I could see Mount Fuji from my room in the morning! My room was huge if I compared it with the Sunshine hotel which I stayed on my first trip to Tokyo. It is also bigger, cleaner and more convenient than Century Hyatt which my colleagues were staying on this particular business trip. My bathroom was also furnished with L'Occitane products. Food wise, breakfast was a healthy spread with plenty of fruits, yogurt and some breads at the cafe on level 1. There is a buffet restaurant on the basement which offers more choices. I was also given dining vouchers which was a really nice gesture. I would certainly love to stay here again for my next business trip. But for personal trip, the cost is too high for me. But if you can afford it, look no further =)

Great Hotel! Will Stay Here Again.
By ,
My room was a 323sqft Double on the Executive floor. Compared to other Tokyo hotels I've stayed in, this one was amazing. I'll be staying here on all my visits to Tokyo from now on. Pros: Awesome location. 5 minute walk to Shinjuku Park and, in the opposite direction, Shinjuku Station (which will quickly get you to anywhere else you want to go in Tokyo). Less than 10 minute walk to the Alta building. The room was spacious for a Japanese hotel. There was a separate writing desk and a chair comfortable enough to spend long periods of time in. The reclining chair and queen size bed were also comfortable. The bathroom came with a full-size bathtub and a large sink counter. Free, unlimited, high-speed internet. To my knowledge, wireless was not available but the room came with an ethernet cable and the desk/chair were comfortable enough to not want to use my laptop from another location. Breakfast buffet had a decent selection of western food. A few flavors of yogurt, granola, boiled eggs, juices, salad, breads, fruit, cheese, bacon, some sort of fried potato thing. Buses leaving roughly twice an hour going back and forth between the hotel and Narita Airport. The time (1.5-2 hours) and the cost (3000 yen) are comparable to that of the Narita Express train. The bus is much more convenient and I highly recommend it if you have a lot of luggage or are not familiar with Japan. There are also buses going between the hotel and Haneda airport. The service all around was fantastic. Everyone at every level of employement in the hotel was always very cheerful and happy to help with anything I needed. It seemed like everyone but the maids spoke English. There are a few restaurants and bars in the hotel as well as a convenience store. I didn't try any of them but they looked pretty nice. The room was about 23,000 yen per night ($200 USD with the current exchange rate), after all fees and taxes. The internet and breakfast buffet are worth $30/day, putting the real cost at around $170, which is very reasonable for everything you get with this hotel. The hotel is large/popular enough that any taxi driver in the Tokyo area will know it by name. You'll have no problem getting home at night if you happen to miss the last train. Cons: Swimming Pool closes too early at 8pm, last entrance 7:30 (strict). Gym is very small. 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, 2 stairmasters, some mats for stretching on but as far as weights go there was one chest machine and one shoulder machine and that's it! Breakfast buffet ends too early at 9:30am. If you are taking full advantage of your time in Tokyo, you will not be waking up this early. Also, the breakfast is the same every day.

Too good for me!
By ,
I spent 10 days at the Keio Plaza back in March '05. From the minute I arrived, I felt very comfortable with the hotel. It's quite large and very clean. The service was excellent and the staff was very kawaii. As part of a package from JAL, I picked the Keio Plaza for its location and reputation. The price was a bit steep, but I figured I would indulge myself the frist time I went to Tokyo. I would definitely recommend it, though next time I will chose a hotel closer to my price range.
