BEST WESTERN Mount Vernon Ft. Belvoir, Alexandria

This hotel is truly a dump. The rooms were cramped and dated. The staff was so rude. I later discovered that Best Western International had even revoked the franchise for this hotel. I could not understand why Best Western International reinstated their franchise until I learned that the owner is the former Chairman of the Board for Best Western International.

This has to be the worst hotel in Alexandria. The room was dated and dirty. The staff was so rude. I was originally planning to stay for a week,but, checked out after 2 nights.Best Western International should seriously evaluate revoking their license of this hotel.

This hotel is an absolute miserable hotel,in my opinion. The rooms are not the same as displayed in their web site. The room was dated and cramped. There was trash along the side of the bed. I attempted to discuss this with the housekeeper,but, she claimed she did not speak English. The staff is so rude. I will never stay at thsi hotel again.

We stayed here because it was so close to Mt Vernon. The front desk clerk at check in was very polite and took care of us quickly, when someone else came to the desk he acknowledged him right away and said he would be right with him.This was the first display of excellent customer service from this clerk. Whenever you went to the lobby desk he was right there to see how he could help. Our TV was working then the remote quit called down to the desk and the clerk was right up with another remote he was able to fix ours though but said if it does it again call him again. It worked fine after that. The hotel was very nice throughout, clean with pleasing decor. We stayed in a King room, nice sized room and bath, had fridge and micro. Bed was very comfortable, room air/heat unit performed good not too noisy. Breakfast was good alot of choices, breakfast room was very large compared to some hotels. The only problem we had was the clock radio started a chirp sound every couple hours we didn't know why. Since we didn't need the alarm clock we unplugged it till morning. Checkout was very fast and when we mentioned the clock radio problem they were very apologetic and sent someone right up to replace it. We let them know how impressed we were with all the staff while we were there, especially the evening clerk. Just wish we would've got the evening clerks name so he could be recognized properly for his excellent service. We had an excellent stay and next time we are in the area we will be back. Highly recommend this hotel !

Our DC tour group stayed here overnight. The room was big and clean, beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. For convenience there was a fridge and microwave. They had a free hot breakfast buffet which was very good. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. All in all, I was very pleased and would stay here again.

Our family of six spent six nights here while playing tourist in DC. Our two rooms were adjoining, which was very convenient -- we arrived late in the evening but had called mid-afternoon to request side by side rooms. Both rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, the fridge and microwave (no freezer) was very handy. The breakfast room was very nice -- coffee, juice, cereal (hot and cold), muffins, fruit, yogurt, make-your-own waffles plus a different hot entree and side each day. We had some special needs, which were met quickly and cheerfully. All the staff members we encountered were helpful. We drove (15 minutes) to the Huntington Metro station (ample parking) and used the Metro to get around DC -- very convenient. The hotel is very close to Mount Vernon. It is also very convenient to restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies.

I have been going to this Hotel regularly on business travel and the improvements that have been made in this last year give this hotel a unique beauty.

The hotel for the price is great the also have hot breakfast and I was surprised at how nice this hotel was. I didn't expect a Best Western to have a fridge and microwave in the room, a fabulous new king size, ultra comfy bed with lots of down pillows, a nice exercise facility. The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations with it's Belgium waffle machine. Overall I was really amazed at how nice the hotel was. The staff was very courteous and helpful, too. BEST hotel. VERY close to Mount Vernon and the Grist Mill, right along Highway 1 which runs into downtown and through old Alexandria.

Although we were only there for two nights for the convienence of being close to Mt. Vernon and to DC, i will not return to this place. When I entered, the first thing that I noticed was the smell - must and cigarettes. The sign said that they were going under renovation, but while I was there there were no work crews or other companies of the sort. The staff at the checkin did not act in a professional manner and the elevator was broken. As I walked down to the hall to my room, wallpaper was peeling and paint on the doors were chipping.Not even looking forward to entering the room from my already great experience, I find that there is a buildup of mildew and dirt in the bathroom. At night, when I went to view the television, I realized that the guide was out of date. Continental breakfasts were no good and the lack of friendly service was frustrating. I would not reccomend this stay to any potential overnighters.

It was very cold weather during my stay and the heater had to be left on in the low position (Still very loud)or off (cold),a variable switch would vastly improve my stay,I might even get some sleep. The front desk staff lacked any enthusiasm and could be replaced by an automated check-in system which might be more guest oriented
