Big city folks will love it.
By Timothy, 2/15/10
My wife and I moved to the area a couple years ago, and once a year we take a local getaway to the Osthoff. Having lived in major metropolitan areas and comparing the price to value ratio, the Osthoff is a STEAL, and offers some of the best accomodations you'll find in the midwest. The staff is always friendly and curteous. The rooms are clean. The food is good. The Aspira Spa is also very good. When you compare the Osthoff to other major metropolitan areas you are blown away by how much less you'll spend. But we have to be realists. The Osthoff is located in rural Wisconsin. The people working there are mostly from rural Wisconsin. You can expect them to be nice people who take pride in their work, but don't expect everyone you meet to super sophisticated and all in to image like in a dowtown Chicago boutique, restaurant, or hotel. The spa services are good, but don't expect the same service as you would get in Paris or Los Angeles. Most people who visit are realists, and get that. 99% of big city dwellers that come up to the Osthoff will just love it. It's also surrounded by some great golf courses and restaurants. On the other hand, if you're from a small town you might not feel like you're getting your money's worth. Personally, I love this place, and so does my wife. We'll be going back each year right after Christmas when it's nice and quiet.

An Osthoff review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/2/09
I was at the Osthoff for the Audi driving event out at Road America. The accomedations were excellent for two individuals, with the two bedrooms and bathrooms. Room number 451 was nice and roomy. The bedroom I selected had the king sized bed. This turned out to be ALMOST the worst mattress I have had to sleep on. Both outside sleeping areas have been beaten down so badly that you have no back support at all. By sleeping in the absolute center of the mattress I was able to get enough sleep for the night! Please have this horrible mattress changed out! Here is another thing about room 451. When I returned from a day of activity at the race track I found the entry door ajar. After checking the rooms over and not seeing that anything was missing, I tested the door to see if the automatic closing henges were working properly. They are not. (Maybe just need to be oiled,) With the door opened to it's widest position, the door does not close all of the way and lock up! This need fast attention, for safety sake and to limit your possible liabillity! The last thing on my list is the cute way the housekeeping staff is instructed to make the beds. FIRST of all the fitted sheets are not fitted over the corners of the mattress and within minutes of getting into bed and trying to find a comfortable sleeping position, the bottom sheet has popped one or more of the fitted corners making me get out of bed and getting the fitted corners into the proper position! SECOND, but more disturbing is the way that the top sheet and blanket are set up. I know that the presentation of a product is key in most industries, but this is almost thoughtless in respect to your guests. When the bedspread is pulled down for the night, one finds that the top sheet and blanket have been placed about two feet from the headboard with the top sheet neatly folded over the blanket. Which means that about two feet of the top sheet and the blanket are tucked under the mattress at the foot of the bed! The reality of this is that unless you are about four feet tall the blanket only can be pulled up mid chest! So I get out of bed and pull off the bedspread, pull out the top sheet and blanket that is so nicely tucked in at the foot of the bed and reconstruct the sheet and top cover so that I can have my shoulders covered up during the night. My suggestion to the manager of the house keeping staff is this: Bring along your jammies tonight and try sleeping in one of these beds that are made up in this fashion. I bet you are taller than four feet and your night will not be as warm and cozy as you think! Thank You and Have A Nice Day!

nickled and dimed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/08
There were extra charges for everything and the food prices were outrageous. Older kids were hogging the pool so my kids did not get to swim very much.

Great for the whole family!
By Courtney M, 6/3/08
Going there was like a home away from home! The place was in great condition, and there was always workers if you needed to find something. There was also a game room, and amazing pools, 1 indoors,2 outside, and a pond outside surrounded by gorgeous flowers, and a gazebo. I also took a swing at hydro-biking, which was nice and relaxing. The water was so clear, and clean, i could see all the way to the bottom no matter how far out I went! there was nice, big fish, for any fishing fanatics, and it was soooo peaceful. About a 5 minute walk away was a little town that had a cute little icecream shop calles Seibekins(i think that's how its spelled) and it was an octagon shape. I aslo heard theres a candy store with a cirus theme, and a bowling alley near by. there is a lot of restaurants near by, too. theyve a spa at the hotel, which is a good feature. i HIGHLY reccomend this hotel.

Dissapointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/08
When we walked into our room it stuck like stale air. What a suprise to find out at the end that the housekeeper said we were smoking in our room, even though neither my husband or I smoke. After paying $100 and trying to talk to the manager, I would never stay at this place again. Stronly recommend that if you do stay here, make sure that if your room smells at all that you document it immediately.

Best Getwaway in a long time
By Bridgett, 11/26/07
The staff were very helpful and nice, the room was clean and quiet- even with a large Wedding staying at the same time. Beds were very comfortable. Otto's had great food at a reasonable price. The Spa portion of this resort was INCREDIBLE.

Retreat From The City
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/07
Located between Milwaukee & Green Bay, this great hotel is an ideal get away from the city. Kind of expensive but worth it. You get a choice of the lake or forest view as an option. Transport is essential.

Ostoff May 2007
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/8/07
Beautiful setting, nice accommodations, restaurant and bar. Walls to adjacent rooms seemed like paper; I couldn't help but over hearing neighbors play scrabble for several hours the first night. Also felt a little nickel and dimed to death - don't forget anything and don’t expect anything to be included in the base price - at close to $200/night for decent hotel-type room, one would think they could have provided a $0.25 razor for free; even Super 8 will provide free of charge. Cleanliness got a less than perfect rating, bathroom had used bar of soap and stepped on broken glass first night. They did not provide clean drinking glasses during the stay. Breakfast also isn’t available until after 7 a.m., if you need to be out early – microwaves in all rooms – some have full kitchens.
