The hotel room was very, very small; just a bed and a bathroom! I also could not sleep, the halway was very loud in the morning hours. The location was great though, close to shopping and food :) The window in the room opened all the way which i thought was scarry...there was no a/c or central heat but there was a ceiling fan. Our bathroom did have an original claw foot tub. I would not stay here again.

No frills

I stayed in this hotel recently for one week. It doesn't have frills, but it's clean and close to cable cars, BART, Chinatown, etc. Our tours picked us up right at the front door which was very convenient. Staff was very pleasant. Keep this hotel the way it is...clean and reasonably priced!

the worst hotel ever!!!!!!!!!

we have been moved between 4 rooms and each and every single one of them have a steam on the sheets.... customer service was the worst ever and they just decided to live it like that and kick us out.... just don't be here! there is a lot of other hotels around in the same price and really nice customer service....

Didn't get any sleep

Service, cleanliness, location, and value were great. However, trash pick-up is at 3AM right outside of the hotel on a Friday night!! There was also a furnace in the room that made loud noises all night. We did not get good sleep that night. The next day, we had personnel shut the furnace off and it helped.

Remodeled clean rooms

Fine rooms, recently updated, nice furniture.....the cleaning person was lax, on a number of occasions, but overall, was very happy with extended stay. Front desk was cool, helpful, they took care of any problems immediately. Best Regards

Where are the clawfoot tubs?

Great room. Great location. Great value. The bathroom was nice, and very European with the corner sink. This is very appropriate for the most European city in America. The listing says there are clawfoot tubs, which I really looked forward to after driving from San Diego. The desk clerk looked as confused as I did when I asked about the listing on the website. Other than that, great hotel. We will book it again.

Two Thumbs Up

This is a very good hotel for those on a budget. It is on the right side of Union Square and adjacent to the entrance of China Town on Grant. The rooms are very clean and the bed was comfortable. Some rooms have large opening windows of the large buildings--Trans and B of A. It is the location and safe spot that it is key. There is also a Starbucks on the corner.

Stay Away!

Don't stay at this hotel. We want to keep this great discovery all to ourselves! Great price, wonderful people, incredible location. By all means, avoid this hotel so we can have it all to ourselves!

The location of the Baldwin is great. Close to several coffeeshops and resturants. Trolley and bus system only a block and a half away. Very centrally located. The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, and comfortable. You can't beat the price of this hotel and service in downtown San Francisco. Will be visiting the city again and will plan to stay at the Baldwin.

Great location, rooms were small but very servicable. Clean, courteous staff, and the price is great. The only downside comes with the location. LOUD at night, at least until 2 am. But since you're in a great area, it's understandable
