Not 5 star
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/16/07
Just returned from a week at the Meridien. Did not rate this hotel 5 star - more like 3-4 star. Accommodation itself was fine, nice room, lobby area, pool was nice and even better that fact it had a swim up pool bar, beach was nice, plenty of beds at both the pool and beach. Service was not very good, took a while to get served drinks at main bars and swim up pool bar. Even had to ask for water and toilet roll for our room!!. You would expect to have excellent service in a 5 star hotel! Food was average, limited choice, a bit fed up of chicken, rice and fish by the end of the week. Limited choice of restaurants and if you wanted a change speciality restaurants had to be paid for (although you got 50% off your bill). I would recommend the Chinese, best meal all week! Plenty of daytime entertainment. Evening shows not so good, but enjoyed atmosphere and music in the Dockers Bar Overall enjoyable holiday but not if you are expecting 5 star quaility. Have been to much better 4 star rated hotels in Eqypt.

Saving for next year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/07
There wasn't anything we didn't dislike about Le Meredien, it was absolutely brilliant. The staff were really friendly & helpful and really seemed to enjoy their job. The hotel was spotlessly clean and there was a good choice of food to suit everybody, we especially enjoyed the hot-dog & chips at 4p.m. The pool was fantastic & so was the swim up bar!! Plenty of sun loungers for everybody, & no need to get up early because the Germans had taken them all! Didn't bother going down town but it was easy to get to by taxi or hotel bus if you wanted to go. This is the best hotel we've ever stayed in and we will certainly return.

Absouloutly Spectacular, such a beautifull place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/07
Le Meridien in egypt is a once in a life time chance. I went with my mum, dad and younger sister. I can honestly say ive never been to a more stunning hotel in my life If you want to go to a nice relaxing place then le meriden is definatly the place for you. All the staff who was on a really low wage always seem delighted and do there best to make sure you have a good holiday! Plus i didnt have to open a door inside the hotel, theres men opening doors for you in little genie costumes! I was amazed the first time i seen the pool,The only word i can describe beautifull. We went during May 2007 and there was hardly no-one in there so we had a more peacefull experiance than expected! The location isnt exactly ideal but i'll tell you one thing. You dont have to step out of the hotel for nothing at all! With its own little shopping centre on the resort that had all you needs! The pool bar was amazing to with a little friendly rabbit-like looking waiter behind the bar made your holiday even more memorable! The rooms were nice and up to a good standard and if you are in a june room like us you have the horizon of the red sea to look at when your getting ready. As for the beach, glistning, sparkling only a 2 minute stroll away from the pool. Free sunbeds and a snack bar right next to it. The food was lovely but did start gettin repetative after 5 days but hey we was in egypt what more do you expect? The disco room at night was ace! I could have a little boogie with my mate i made over there! And i didnt really get envolved with the entertainment because i were too busy sunbathin but it looked great! Anyways i would recomend this hotel to anyone! I can gaurentee you an excellent holiday!

Le Meridien, Hughada
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/19/07
We have literally just come back from a weeks stay at le Meridien, it was fantastic. I couldnt find fault in the service, food, cleanliness, weather, activies ....Basically it was one of the best holidays I have ever had. The only possible downside to the resort was its location. It was about 1/2 hour drive outside Hurghada & the battle you have with taxi drivers on prices was a little tiring. But would strongly recommend this resport to couples, families and groups of friends (provided you're not looking for an Ibiza type holiday)

Not what we expected from a 5*
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/07
We arrived and we were given a Dune room, we were kept awake all night by the night workers doing laundry at the back of the main building, shouting and banging all night. After complaining we were moved to a larger lagoon room, this was lovely. My only disappointment was the food which was quality not quantity, and very limited choice, we seemed to have the same thing every night, fried fish, rice, pasta also the sea food restaurant, Italian and chinese restaurant were a set menu for all inclusive this set menu was a starter, a main meal and a desert (no choice) I have been to better 4* all-inclusives who's choice of foods have been great. Apart from the food the staff were helpful and polite. The evening entertainment was awful, we saw the daytime entertainment staff (lads) put on dresses and wigs with balloons down there tops, do terrible impersonations of stars. Overall we had a good time but we heared from other people who had just arrived that the 6 restaurants included in the all-inclusive were being cut down too two, the main restaurant and the overflow restaurant upstairs, so no Italian, no chinese and no sea food for all-inclusives and only one beach bar, the others that we had used all week were now not all-inclusive!!!
