It could use a lesson in customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/13/09
I have stayed here several times, and was very satisfied. But then I stayed here in September 2008. I had a room adjacent to the pool area. On Saturday, they had a "Family Day", Children were in the pool all afternoon and some were very loud. I spoke to the clerk about 6PM, and she did little to quiet the noise. Also in the later afternoon, several adults were sitting outside in a designated smoking area and enjoying alcohol. This area was directly next to the window in my room. I again registered a complaint with the clerk. The noise in the pool continued into the evening and the pool was still in use by children and unattentive adults fifteen minutes past the posted closing time. I again spoke to the clerk, who was busying herself watching TV. When I registered my third complaint of the day, she made it seem like it was MY fault. The next day I registered a complaint with the management, and was not satisfied with her response.

Not getting any better.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/09
Resturant/Bar now closed. Owner blames economy. We called, owner did say Rest./Bar closed, but only when asked. Very Liberal cancellation policy. 3 Semi Trucks idling in parking lot all night. Ist. night there was 2. Pool water cloudy. 1/2 of hotel (should be called Motel) rented out on Monthly Basis. No fridge, Microwave. Dogs allowed, one barking in room. Stayed 2 nights, garbage not removed from room first night. Don't know if garbage was removed after 2nd night.Rooms are not bad though. Bring your own bath soap and shampoo.Bathroom fan very noisy, stayed here two years ago, same noisy bathroom fan. Beds need to be replaced, same comforters from 2 years ago.Local Supper Clubs sometimes open, sometimes not. Food selection in town very poor or non-existent.

We won't be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/07
We called almost a month in advance to reserve a room and were told that there were only a few smoking rooms that were together at one end of the hotel, we called our friends that were to stay the same night to let them know and we all had our "smoking rooms" reserved. When we arrived, they all had theirs and ours had been some contractors that stayed an extra few weeks and we would have to have a no smoking room at the other end of the hotel. They acted like this was no big deal and didn't understand that this was something we planned far in advance to prevent not getting a smoking room. This is obviously not important to a non-smoker, but was to us. Our toilet needed repair before even using it, to which the man came to the room and handed us a plunger at the door without even looking at it. The blinds were not installed properly and would not slide open to access the door to our patio. The pool was not repaired as we were told it would be and our "night away" was not at all enjoyable. Between their advertising of remodeling and the small town atmosphere we were led astray on this one. I agree with past reviews, if you just need to crash, stay here, if you expect much else then you may want to keep driving.

Could have been a lot better
By Stacy, 01/09/07
We are from the area and stopped by 3 weeks prior to make reservations to stay after a Christmas Party. At the time the pool was 'out of order' and the sign said it would be fixed within a week. That was fine, it would all work out. We would check in early, be able to do some swimming and enjoy our time together and enjoy some alone time before the party. What a disappointment! The pool was not fixed and the same sign was on the door as was there the last time. When I inquired about it, they played it off as though it would be fixed that week (Not knowing I had seen the sign 3 weeks ago!). Whatever, so we still decide to stay and sit around the room and kill 4 hours were now a waist! I could have waited it out at home. Now we get to our room, what a joke. We had a smoking room on the lower level of the old part. The bed looked like is was nearly on the floor and sunk in the middle. The chairs were too short for the table in the room and when you sat at them, you felt like you were 3 years old with your face nearly level with the table. Yes the rooms are very large, but the quality and care put into the hotel is lacking. There were stains all over the carpet, the paint peeling and chipping and cracks in the wall. I do expect a hotel to be clean and provide a nice comfortable atmosphere to relax and sleep in. The hotel looks way better from the outside and even in the lobby (minus the chipping/cracking ceiling) than the room we had. We did have the opportunity to check out our friends room who also stayed. They of course had the chair that should have matched the table in our room. The blinds to the sliding doors were nearly falling off the wall. However the paint was newer and appeared to be cleaner. Our room was a step back into 1970's that hasn't been taken care of since. My recommendation - only stay if it's your last resort or if you are only looking to have a place to crash. Otherwise, spend the same or less money on a room and go where they take care of their hotel.

Beware of live bands playing loud music!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/06
We've stayed at the Blue Inn before and been very satisfied. However, that was not the case on Sept 2, 2006. We checked in that afternoon, and when we got back to the room about 9pm, we found that they had a live band playing loud music outside, right beneath the window of our room. We figured that a business offering a place to sleep wouldn't do something to actually prevent sleeping after about 10pm, but we were wrong. The band was playing until midnight. So we checked out and had to find another place to sleep. We suggest that the Blue Inn could have done several things differently. First, when someone makes a reservation, tell them if there is going to be a live band playing loud music that night. Second, when someone checks in, tell them about the plans for a live band, and if it might be a problem, offer a room that is further away from the music. Third, when someone complains, offer an apology, or some type of remedy, such as help in finding another hotel. Definitely do not tell them that they should have seen the signs in advance (we are from California, so could not have seen the signs in advance). If you make a reservation here, ask about plans for any live bands.

Comfortable, Clean and Spacious
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/06
My husband took us, myself and our kids, with him on an overnight business trip to Montecillo and stayed at The Blue Inn. About the room, the title says it all. The beddings smelled good too, far better than those in chain hotels. It has a nice and cozy restaurant. The restaurant food was great and with reasonable prices. The indoor pool was a plus (-the pool area needs more color though). Great service. We've been to many small towns, all over the United States and Canada, and I could say that our stay in the Blue Inn was one of the most noteworthy.

Refreshing experience
By Gary, 12/09/05
Recently stayed there for 10 days on business. What a great change from the big hotel chains. Very large and clean rooms. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Restaurant and bar very lively. Good food and fun . Friendly locals and beautiful city. Love the personal touch missing from big hotels. Highly recommend the Blue Chip for a stay. Great workout facility adjacent to the hotel. Wonderful Experience
By Steph, 09/01/05
The Blue Inn was incredible! Not only were the rooms huge, but clean and reasonably priced. We will definitely be returning to the Blue Inn in the future.
