Oscar Swan Country Inn, Geneva

We enjoyed everything from the rooms to the owners, Hans and Nina made our overnight stay enjoyable. We also were there for the Murder Mystery show also very enjoyable. The food served at the Show was excellant as was the breakfast. Would definetly recommend and stay again.

If you appreciate historic places and B & B's with charm (and all that goes with it) then this place is a treasure! We chose the Oscar Swan for our reunion weekend and wish we could have stayed longer. The mature grounds and buildings are beautifully maintained, nestled in a picturesque setting outside of town. Our hosts, Nina and Hans were very knowledgable and accommodating (as well as their friendly and helpful staff.) Each room in the Inn was perfectly appointed with fine art and antique furniture. The breakfast was amazing and served in the shade of the lovely outdoor garden area. The 3 of us enjoyed our stay in the loft, found it quite comfortable, creaky floors and all! We look forward to visiting again for our next reunion and would recommend this Country Inn for those who want to roll back the time for a peaceful and memorable getaway.

Lovely location, horrible service. To say the owners and servers were rude would be an understatement. One of the servers (I believe it was the owner, Nina) became upset with me when I tried to get a second appetizer to give to my daughter. She chided me for taking too much food. I told her that my daughter had been trying to find someone with an appetizer tray for 20 minutes. "Well, there are TWO of us," she snapped. "She should have been able to find one of us." I pointed out that two servers (each with one small tray) were not enough for a party of about 200 guests. For the rest of the evening, every time she saw me she put on a sarcastic smile and shoved her tray in my face saying, "Is your child hungry? I brought this tray out just for you." I tried ignoring her, but she was quite persistent in openly mocking me. Several other people mentioned that the same woman had been exceptionally rude to them. Thankfully, it was a lovely wedding and I don't think the bride and groom had any idea that their guests were being harassed by the staff. Stay away. Stay far, far, far away. Unforgivably bad.

When we arrived at the B&B, Nina showed us our room. It was ice cold. She said that she forgot to turn on the heat. She showed us another room which had no window coverings (they were being cleaned). The room was dirty, had garage sale furniture, water in the bathroom was brown in color, and the room was very cold. The vintage rug had moth holes.We decided not to stay. We were disappointed

My brother just had a wedding at the Oscar Swan in Galena. When we went to look around the place a few months ago it looked great. The house was clean, plenty of room, grounds were beautiful. The Inn was booked from Friday to Monday for the wedding. Friday morning we arrived and it was filthy. Dead insects on the floor in the basement where the reception/eating area is. Spider webs all over the place. Bird crap on the every window. You would think that with a wedding at their B&B they would atleast sweep the floor & wash the windows. We spent the frist day cleaning the place so our guests were not as disgusted as we were. Friday night went to bed & there were bugs in the bed. Spiders, ants and other insects. We all had to wash our blankets & sheets b/c honestly they didn't look like they had been washed since the last time people stayed. The showers & Bath tubs were also completely disgusting. When taking a bath the water was yellow & when you turn on the bath jets Black water & dead bugs came out. The showers were full of soap scum. I would have rather showered in a dorm room. The wedding day went ok untill dinner. They ran out of rolls for the guests so they had to use the bread that was brought by us for our meals the following day. Breakfast was supposed to be served to us Sat.& Sun. morning. It was left in the fridge(which leaked water) for use to cook ourselfs. We baked it & it was disgusting. Soggy breakfast caserole isn't really what we were expecting to eat for breakfast. The landscaping of the property was ok. A lot of weeds that were supposed to be cleaned up but hadn't been. We also called to get other information about sizing for a tent and other areas & we were giving differnt measurments everytime. We also were given different prices for stay at the B & B. Nothing was consistant. I do not reccoment this place for a wedding or for a relaxing stay. My family & I were very dissapointed in the upkeep of the Oscar Swan.

We stayed in June 09. As we walked toward the front door ( it was open) to enter the door slammed in our faces.. I had booked it because it was the closest to Swedish days. The grounds are beautiful, Mary Jo Harding was nice but needs some fixing up. My husband and I saw a wedding taking place out the front window. After I booked this hotel I read some interesting reviews abiut this about the inn, They said it was haunted, ( knowing that I made sure I prayed the blood of Jesus to protect us from any evil.) Thank Jesus we did not see anything. or hear anything. Nina was not very friendly. ( maybe she knew we were Christians) I know that she is into science. We need to have breakfast 10 minutes early, Pat one of the helpers was very helpful in getting us breakfast and checked us out with respect . Thank God for Patrick for all his help.. Later as we were eating Nina came by and she seemed mad that we need to eat earlier. Chance are we will not be returning . As we went to the fest I stopped in the historical society they told me that Oscar swans girlfriend had gotten ill and died in the home. I think Hans and Nina focus more on the weddings then the bed and breakfast, but need to be more friendly to there Guests who are staying there. and to help them with any special need they have. The pool was refreshing. There is even a Little girls play house. It looked so cute. If you decide to go pray first, accept the free gift of salvation. only through Jesus Christ. John 3:16.

This place has been a dump with poor service for a very long time.I can't beleive anyone would stay there more than once.

what a treasure hidden in geneva. the place is beautiful and breakfat outstanding.Nina and Hans are so nice and were wonderful to my children.the grounds are beautiful and so relaxing. I love staying there even with the stories of ghost.

I enjoyed our stay very much at the Oscar Swan Inn. To say the least though, were scarred to death on our last day there as we heard the front door open during the night and no one came in. They say the Inn is haunted and they may be right. The grounds and Inn is beautiful and the food wonderful. Nina and Hans were wonderful and gracious. Would return again.

Eight guests and myself stayed at the Oscar Swan at the end of June, our rooms were not cleaned, the owner complained that she clean them. (we were attending a wedding in an hour and a half). When we arrived back to the Oscar Swan after the wedding we smelled gas. The owner was not there and left for the evening which was very odd. We left for 2 hours and came back and the gas smell got much worse. On top of it the house was extremely creepy, the pool was green and the house was very dirty. This was the worst experience my family and I have ever had. We wont ever be returning!
