Absolutely Rude!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/6/12
We didn't actually stay here. I had to fill in Date of Visit in order to submit my review. But here is my experience... I had called the Fox and Hound on Christmas day as this was one of the few days I had to research a getaway for my Mom, my sisters and I. With only 4 months to plan I am using every moment of free time researching to make it special... along with my sisters. I was trying to find a place that may be more quiet and after talking with my Mom over the holidays I found she would enjoy something far from the hustle and bustle of a busy place like New Hope. This is for her 80th birthday and she is fully active with her own business yet. She is very special. Every other B&B I was calling had an Innkeeper to take over the holidays... some were the owners. Most B&B's do have guests over Christmas. When the owner answered the phone she had told me she was in the middle of making breakfast so I figured they had guests. I offered a call back when she has time and then she told me she was spending time with her family later. I then suggested again that she can just call me back after the holidays, I had no problem with that at all. The owner called me back as I was leaving my job and in our conversation she asked me "you mentioned an 80 year old woman, can she walk?" and I said yes.. I asked her if the B&B was a bit more country and she explained you can walk into New Hope a half mile away. I explained to her that over the holiday my Mom had expressed a quiet, relaxing getaway. With her own business she also has to work on holidays as well as answer the phone at all hours of the day/night as she is still running the funeral business she and my father had started. The owner at Fox and Hound told me "well I'm glad I didn't spend my personal time on getting a quote for you... and you called on Christmas Day!?" She was very rude and made me feel like I put her out. I called her back after I left work before I drove home. She didn't answer the phone so I let her know that #1, Christmas Day was one of the few days I had time to research with only 4 months left before we go away. I reminded her that I suggested (a few times) that it's fine if she wants to get back with me after the holidays. #2 I told her the older woman she was referring to was my Mom and that this is for her birthday. I let her know I would never stay at their place or never recommend their place. My son lives in that area. I could not believe how rude she was... which I expressed to her in my message as well. If you have a business then I believe etiquette and people skills should be the first and foremost important part of any business. You do have to deal with all sorts of people and all sorts of situations. If you don't have that then don't blame the economy or bad luck... just take a look at how you are coming across to people. I am glad I got to see the real deal before I ever actually had to stay there. If Christmas is actually that special then why even answer the phone? In todays world we all have time limitations. I really don't feel people should judge or treat others like this when a simple response like "alright I'll call you back after the holidays" could have sufficed.

A real pleasure
By Project, 4/29/10
If you're considering staying at the Fox and Hound, don't hesitate. This is one of the nicest B&B's my wife and I have ever stayed at. And a lot has to do with the wonderful care and treatment given by the innkeepers. The place is clean, comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. My wife and I spent the weekend for our 15th wedding anniversary and Lisa, one of the innkeepers, couldn't have been more accommodating. She sent a list of restaurants in the area and called two days ahead of time to ask if we needed her to make any dinner reservations. The staff had wonderful suggestions on places to go, things to do and printed directions to various spots. Next time we go to New Hope, we wouldn't hesitate to book another stay at the Fox and Hound.

Had a Great Weekend Stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/5/10
We really enjoyed our weekend getaway at the Fox and Hound Bed and Breakfast. The staff was friendly and informative. The owners took the time to speak to us personally which was very nice. Everything was spotless and the servicing of the room was excellent. Our room was very comfortable and with a cozy bed and two very comfortable chairs by the bay window. The bathroom was surprisingly large but the shower stall was a bit small but this was a minor inconvenience. Breakfast was a delight with fresh baked goods and lots of beverages. For breakfast my girlfriend requested a Western Omelet which the staff never made before and nor did they have all the necessary ingredients but with what they had on hand they put together an incredible concoction that was beyond delicious. The Friendly server then gave us info we needed to sightsee and eat out at local restaurants. We definitely plan on returning in the future.

Hope you don't have to cancel due to bad weather
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/09
On Monday 12/14 I made reservation for 12/19 at Fox and Hound Inn. Due to the extreme weather conditions and advisories to stay inside I was forced to cancel my reservations. When I called to cancel I was given no true courtesy and in fact passive aggressively made to feel guilty for canceling. I asked to reschedule and they gave me a few dates. I agreed on Saturday 1/16. Shortly after that they called me back to tell me that 1/16 was all booked up and they would have to try another date. They gave me few undesirable dates on weekdays, Sundays and Christmas weekend. I reluctantly agreed on Friday 1/15. Something seemed strange to me so I decided to check their web site on availability for 1/16. I was saddened to see that they did in fact have plenty of availability on 1/16 despite what they had told me. They were giving me a hard time because they were mad at me for canceling on such short notice. My reasons for canceling on such short notice, as i stated before, were out of my hands. I live in south Jersey and we got hit pretty bad with snow (about a foot). We were advised not to leave the house unless absolutely necessary. I did not deserve such poor treatment from these people. I begged for my money back but they told me I had to cancel my reservations 10 days in advanced. The only problem with this is that I made my reservation 5 days in advanced so that automatically disqualified me for a refund. They did not tell me that on the phone. In fact the only time I was informed of the 10 day cancellation was when I received my room confirmation, but as I said I paid for the room 5 days in advanced so I was already out of the 10 day window. No one warned me of that. They just took my money. I wrote them a letter yesterday pleading with them to refund my money. I even poured my heart out about how due to a series of misfortunes including: being laid off with in the next 3 months, losing my home, and a friend passing away from cancer (who's memorial service was canceled yesterday due to bad weather) caused me to want a nice weekend and to plan a little getaway to New Hope. These people at Fox and Hound Inn do not care, not one bit. On dangerous weather conditions alone they should have refunded my money. Any reputable hotel or Inn would have refunded my money. In my email to them I told them I had to cancel my reservation for 1/15 and to please send me a confirmation of cancellation. they have not even done this. I am so disheartened by this treatment. I did nothing wrong. It is not my fault the weather was so bad. I spent 206 dollars that I did not have just to grab on to something good during these rough times. Instead I was given a cold shoulder and an unsympathetic ear.

Good location for our special celebration
By Cheri, 11/12/09
Our stay at this bed and breakfast in New Hope: lovely inviting accomodations with the warmest hospitality. We found the Fox and Hound host/ess gave us just the right amount of attention and also privacy. I wish we could have stayed longer...Breakfast was fabulous. Whole stay was restful and both had great night's sleep. A nice place to spend a special time. And lots to do in the area and we walked into town from the b&b. We are highly recommending this beautiful place to our friends.

What a wonderful weekend!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/09
We felt like friends the minute we walked in the door. Lisa and Bruce went out of their way to help with everything from reservations to things to do, to maps and even recipes of the wonderful breakfast! Thanks for a great vacation! Shelley & Dennis

Perfect Weekend Escape!
By Jessica, 7/15/08
We felt at home the moment we pulled in the driveway. The innkeepers waited up for us despite our late arrival and were warm and courteous throughout our stay! Breakfast was three simple but tasty courses, and the owners made great suggestions for our weekend. We were even greeted after a long day exploring with fresh baked cookies. Room was large and comfortable - a little outdated but clean and very cozy. Housekeeping was friendly and fast (our room was cleaned while we enjoyed breakfast!) Short, pretty walk to downtown. Absolutely worth what we paid.

Peaceful & welcoming!
By FrancineG, 4/28/08
I would disregard any poor reviews about the Fox & Hound. It's one of the best we've B&B's we've ever stayed in. Our room was very pretty and the entire place was immaculate. The breakfast was excellent - not just continental, but bacon & eggs, etc. The people are very friendly. We only wish we had spent more time in the house than we did.

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/08
Have been to dozens of B&B and for $200/nite some luxury is expected. No dresser in room, room was very small, standard bathrooom - nothing special at all. Poor water pressure in shower and shower squealed. Room very warm -turned off heat and kept door open (in Feb)because of this we didn't use fireplace, ceiling fan very noisy. Decor in room cheap. Innkeeper very nice, it was clean, breakfast was ok but overall disappointing for that much money.
