Hope you don't have to cancel due to bad weather
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/20/09
On Monday 12/14 I made reservation for 12/19 at Fox and Hound Inn. Due to the extreme weather conditions and advisories to stay inside I was forced to cancel my reservations. When I called to cancel I was given no true courtesy and in fact passive aggressively made to feel guilty for canceling. I asked to reschedule and they gave me a few dates. I agreed on Saturday 1/16. Shortly after that they called me back to tell me that 1/16 was all booked up and they would have to try another date. They gave me few undesirable dates on weekdays, Sundays and Christmas weekend. I reluctantly agreed on Friday 1/15. Something seemed strange to me so I decided to check their web site on availability for 1/16. I was saddened to see that they did in fact have plenty of availability on 1/16 despite what they had told me. They were giving me a hard time because they were mad at me for canceling on such short notice. My reasons for canceling on such short notice, as i stated before, were out of my hands. I live in south Jersey and we got hit pretty bad with snow (about a foot). We were advised not to leave the house unless absolutely necessary. I did not deserve such poor treatment from these people. I begged for my money back but they told me I had to cancel my reservations 10 days in advanced. The only problem with this is that I made my reservation 5 days in advanced so that automatically disqualified me for a refund. They did not tell me that on the phone. In fact the only time I was informed of the 10 day cancellation was when I received my room confirmation, but as I said I paid for the room 5 days in advanced so I was already out of the 10 day window. No one warned me of that. They just took my money. I wrote them a letter yesterday pleading with them to refund my money. I even poured my heart out about how due to a series of misfortunes including: being laid off with in the next 3 months, losing my home, and a friend passing away from cancer (who's memorial service was canceled yesterday due to bad weather) caused me to want a nice weekend and to plan a little getaway to New Hope. These people at Fox and Hound Inn do not care, not one bit. On dangerous weather conditions alone they should have refunded my money. Any reputable hotel or Inn would have refunded my money. In my email to them I told them I had to cancel my reservation for 1/15 and to please send me a confirmation of cancellation. they have not even done this. I am so disheartened by this treatment. I did nothing wrong. It is not my fault the weather was so bad. I spent 206 dollars that I did not have just to grab on to something good during these rough times. Instead I was given a cold shoulder and an unsympathetic ear.
