Surprisingly nice hotel for the money

This is a simple hotel when you just want an economy room for a brief stay. When I first checked in, I was expecting a bare-bones room. To my surprise, the room was much more than I expected it to be. It was decorated very tastefully, had a nice little table and chairs, sitting chairs, a kitchenette area, and the furnishings were pleasing to the eye, not cheesy and cheap. I was visiting my daughter on Bainbridge Island, and she herself was expecting to walk into a basic, "four walls and a bed" kind of room when she came to pick me up, but even she was taken aback when she walked in. Mind you, it's not a Four Seasons, but for a basic hotel room, I feel there's a real secret in this hotel for the budget traveler.
I did not eat at the hotel, so I cannot speak for it's food.
The service was excellent. The price was a little higher than one would pay for the same type room in Seattle, but it's Bainbridge Island, so it is expected to command a premium, yet it's still reasonably priced. However, the room was a pleasant surprise, and the hotel is very conveniently located right in the middle of all the amenities on Bainbridge, so the price was well worth what I got. Frankly, my stay here was better than one of the $200 a night B&B's I stayed at previously on the island. I will definitely stay at the Island Country Inn when I next return to Bainbridge.
