WOULD STAY AGAIN
By Thompson, 03/15/09
The hotel was nice, clean and above average for that price. My room was very clean and well appointed, and included a mini fridge and microwave. Bed was very comfortable, too. The front desk staff were courteous as well as the housekeeping staff.

Terrible, Room Stunk like a Skunk
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/20/07
The best thing this Hotel has going for it is the location. Located on Highway 17 made it easy to find and locate other places of interest. BUT!!! My Wife, Son, and myself had reserved a NON-SMOKING room for 2 nights through the internet. The room was located on the second floor through 2 doors and a narrow stairway passage that has a turn half way up, meeting someone else with luggage at the same time can be difficult to maneuver around. Well the supposedly NON-SMOKING room had been smoked in, there where burn holes in the furniture and the bedding to prove it. The room smelled awful. There was the Cigarette smell plus a rank musty smell also. It was worse when ever we had the air or heat on, coming from the vent. First night we got no sleep because the smell was in the bedding. We put our jackets over the pillows to help cover the smell, but it helped very little. The room did have a small Refrigerator, Microwave and Coffee Maker that was nice. The next day we went to the near by Wal-Mart and bought a bottle of Febreze and 3 new Pillows. Used the whole bottle of Febreze in the room. It may have helped some! Now you may ask, why not ask for another room? Well, this was the weekend of the East Carolina Wildlife Festival and we could not get a new room or hotel because everything was booked! We told the Management about the room but all we got was an apology. We will be going back to Washington, NC next year but will be looking to stay in another Hotel.

Won't be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/03/06
The room had that "cheap motel" smell. The kind of smell that says we are trying to cover something up. The seating in the room was very uncomfortable and actually forced me to spend my time seated on the bed. Once past that I was ok until taking the morning shower. That's when I found that there was very little hot water. On this trip I spent three nights in different motels and this was by far the least appealing for the price.

Terrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/06/05
I stay at this hotel approximately three times a year, due to the fact that I am a choice member, and wanted to earn points towards benefits. This last stay was terrible. The staff was not friendly, nor were they helpful. We had plumbing issues, and were instructed that there was no maintenance staff on duty, and the desk clerk did not have anyone available to cover them to assist us. So we requested a plunger, and proceeded to spend 30 minutes trying to get our toilet to flush! We came in contact with much fecal matter, had to clean the mess up ourselves, then when we instructed the staff that the dirty linens and plunger were in the hallway, they did not retrieve these items until the next morning when the cleaning staff came on duty. The hallway smelt and it was disgusting. Our compensation for this effort, was $10 discount off that nights stay. WOW! I was not impressed. I spoke with the manager the next morning regarding this matter, and the fact that there was constant noise of kids running up and down the stairwell and hallways. It was so bad at one point that I nearly called 911 myself after threatening this to the staff member who answered the telephone. In addition, this hotel is not equipped with an elevator, so you have to lug all your luggage up and down a narrow stairwell through two doors, which makes it difficult. I will never stay at this facility again. I was never fully pleased with my previous stays, but not to the point where I would absolutely refuse to stay again.

Mediocre
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/05
I stayed at this hotel on a business trip and while it was a good deal (less than $70 a night including taxes), I probably should have paid little extra to stay somewhere else. There was no hot water, the phone in the room was broken, and the service at the front desk was slow. The continental breakfast was dismal - a few powdered doughnuts, white bread, fruit loops, and not much else. I have found much more succes in the Holiday Inn Express for an affordably-priced hotel for business travel. On the plus side, it was easy to find and an easy commute to major roads.
