Carlisle Inn Walnut Creek, Walnut Creek

This beautiful inn with a million dollar view sits on a scenic ridge in Ohio's Amish country and is very clean! Each room is decorated uniquely and tastefully, and since around August 2008 does not allow smoking on balconies anymore! This inn has always been smoke free in that no smoking has ever been permitted in any of the interiors but they did allow smokers to do so on their private balcony. This inn really heard us when we asked for non-smoking decks and balconies. So now even their exteriors are smoke free. They really cared and responded to our concerns! Smoking guests must smoke at their vehicles or at picnic table which is a considerable distance from the inn exteriors. The staff at the inn are great, warm and friendly and the restaurant next door Der Dutchman has the best made from scratch comfort food. We plan to return time and time again, for more peace and comfort, the inn's motto.

Not a smoke free hotel, as advertised This facility advertises itself as a non-smoking facility but is not! The only reason that you would want to stay at this hotel, compared to others in the area, would be for the view of the Amish farm countryside from each room's balcony. The unfortunate thing is that they allow smoking on the balconies despite their claim of being a smoke free facility. The smoke on the balcony was so bad that my wife and I had to stay inside. Management was not sympathetic!

Hotel Staff did not inform any of their guests about a planned power outage for 7:00 am Sunday morning.(power still off when we left at 9:45 am). We were left in the dark on third floor. No heat, no elevator, no lights in room or stairway, no coffee, no juice, little to eat. I was late for appointment. Staff laughed about it and told us to "come again". We drove one hour out of our way to stay here. Very disappointed.

We have stayed here several times and are leaving tomorrow morning for another two-night visit. It is an attractive, relaxing place to stay and convenient to the local attractions. Rooms are very well appointed and staff is very helpful. Love staying here!

My family and I have been staying at the Carlisle Inn at Walnut Creek since 1995 and I can honestly say that every single experience there has been continually fabulous. Each room feels like home with its beautiful and unique handcrafted furniture. Not only are the rooms cozy and inviting, they are completely immaculate. Definitely not your typical standard room. You'll want to spend your entire stay right at the Inn. The breakfast provided in the mornings is also something else that stands out. Every morning homemade breads, rolls, bagels, etc, are served in a beautiful room filled with white wicker furniture. Begin your day with amazing views out of the numerous windows of the breakfast room and you are sure to want to visit again and again. I look forward to the mornings every time we stay, and considering I am anything but a morning person, this is quite unusal. With its elegance, charm and unmatched service, the Carlisle is undoubtedly worthy of 5 stars. The only notice I might make is to families with children. The Walnut Creek location does not have a pool, however this may be quickly remedied by simply booking your room at their sister Inn located in Sugarcreek, which is also right in the heart of Amish Country. The Sugarcreek location is just as amazing. Beautiful, fantastically clean, and elegant, this location is where I make reservations when we take the kids along. Either way, you cannot go wrong. Our family has made many wonderful memories at both Inns and we plan to continue doing so for years to come. Make sure to make reservations with plenty of time in advance, especially in peak vacation times. Both Inns fill up on many occasions. Definitely not a surprise given the phenomenal surroundings and charming atmosphere. A++++

My sister and I found this Inn 2 years ago and we talk about it all the time. We took other members of are family soon after our first visit. We have been back many times. We start planning our next visit as we are driving out of the parking lot. We call the THE CARLISLE INN our home in OHIO, we are from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. All the people working there are very, very friendly. The rooms are beautiful, the food good. We always meet nice people cause every quest is so pleased with the place. My sister and I tell all are friends and even people we just meet about the Carlisle Inn. Love it! Love it! describes how we both feel about our time spend there.

This is our favorite place to go and unwind. We have come every year since the Inn has opened and recommend it to anyone wanting a great place to stay. Best kept secret is this beautiful country in Ohio! The Amish, the shopping, the food, relaxing at the Carlisle Village Inn--life just couldn't get any better!

I like to think of Carlisle Village Inn in Walnut Creek, OH as my "home away from home". I visit as often as I possibly can...it's my favorite get-away. I have traveled extensively and stayed in hotels in places all over the US and Europe, and Carlisle tops them all for me. It has a very homey feel and the staff goes out of their way to make their guests comfortable. The views are terrific, and it has to be one of the most peaceful little places on Earth! I am quite the "clean freak", and Carlisle is one of the very few places I have stayed that meets my standards for cleanliness. The rooms are very comfortable and the inn is beautifully decorated. I always enjoy stuffing myself on the wonderful food at Der Dutchman restaurant next door, then getting pie to go and enjoying it in the rocking chair on the front porch of the Inn while watching the Amish buggies go by. Oh, and be sure to check out Rebekah's Coffee Shop located near the Inn- it's a real treat in itself! Delicious lunch menu and a great atmosphere! I can't wait to go back "home" to Walnut Creek!!

My wife and I have been going to the Carlisle Village Inn in Walnut Creek for the past couple of years and it is by far our favorite place to stay. We have been there in the spring, summer, fall and winter and it is a wonderful place no matter what time of year. Service is great, staff is wonderful and the food is absolutely out of this world at the Der Dutchman Restaurant next door. We have it in our schedule to visit at least three times this year.

Like: Friendly and ready to asist staff members from the front desk to the house servie employees. All rooms, including the public areas are well maintained and user friendly. Dislike: The canned fruit served on the breakfast bar, styrofoam cups. Smoke detector room was flashing on the ceiling all night. Very distracting. I called this to the attention of front desk staff when checking out the next morning. Summery: Still a 5 star rating.. I'll be back
