Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro

i loved the friendly service, superior !! price excellent for location. im trying to make reservations but is impossible with numbers posted as a forigner using mobile phone not knowing how to use numbers posted to call them. they need easier access to call by mobile as i am on the run all the time.

Great Hotel from the front desk to housekeeping. Everyone is super friendly. The staff will remember you the next time you come back. We have stayed at marco :(, dynasty: (,but never again. From now on its PHILTOWN HOTEL#1

The hotel is older, you can see the wear on the carpets, but that adds to the charm of this place. I had a superior room on the 3rd floor, nice and quiet, large refrigerator to keep items cold. HBO and Cinemax on the television along with CNN World, so TV was a big plus. The restaurant has a breakfast buffet for 145 pesos (about $ 3.00 american), choice included filipino and chinese meat dishes, omlettes, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. Quite the bargain. The hotel has a shortcut to Balsa (restaurant in the same building) that is also a good value too. The hotel is centerally located with an internet cafe and other wi-fi hotspots within walking distance, local restaurants are just around the corner (within 2 blocks). There is a nice Manok (bbq chicken) place about 2 blocks away that has live music and you can carry on a conversation at the table. They have an air conditioned room available. I am returning in April and will again be staying there, the staff is friendly and always willing to make your stay pleasant

Having stayed at three different hotels in Cagayan de Oro in the last 10 days, I thought it might help others to know that room placement can be very important here. The streets are noisy as honking is the preferred mode of communication while driving. And several of these hotels have large banquet halls with rooms very close by. I had room 103 at Philtown and had to move because the parties stopped at 3am (Christmas season is very busy for parties) and traffic started at 5am. If you stay here, try to get a room on the upper floors. The restaurant was nice and had good prices. Laundry service was quite slow, but might have been due to holidays.

Really safe and location excellent near night cafe and music bars. Allready visited 3 different times,.allways been wellcome and stuffs in front desk really helpfull.

My experience at the Philtown hotel can be summed up as adequate. The staff overall was courteous, friendly and eager to help. The amenities were spartan...as a rule, you should always carry your own soap...the bars they provide are travel size and with 2 towels to a room you must request additional ones which were provided when requested. Dining was also adequate...the menu selection was varied, the food well prepared and the dining room staff eager to please. The only negative was no fault of the hotel. There is an open bar disco that plays nightly until 2AM, located a block away. If you are a light sleeper that could be an issue...

I stayed 2 different times in 2005 and was there again in November 2006--When I arrived at the checkin desk they welcomed me and said was nice to see you sir(they used my real name)From security at the front door to the cleaning staff-everyone was cheerfull- The restaraunt was always serving excellant food. Even the morning buffet chef-remembered me. I will be back there in 2007 for sure.
