Just what we needed!
By ,
I had read the reviews (many negative) before booking. However, the location was perfect for the important medical appointment in New Westminster. Have stayed in five stars around the world and many not so great. The entire staff was friendly, helpful with directions/ anything needed, and very pleasant. The room was clean, comfortable, and I found the towels just fine (re an earlier person's complaint about too thin). The air, parking, and continental were all fine. If I have the need to re-visit the area, I would definitely feel welcomed at the Happy Day Inn, and would stay again. The pricing is very reasonable for the accommodation and service provided. I felt comfortable during a time of medical need of my loved one.

Worst hotel
By ,
Simply the worst hotel ever!! The reception and hallways were both dirty, smelly and in need of redecoration. The rooms are even worse, we even found hairs in the bed from the last occupant. The staff and mangement have been both rude and lax about the complaints i made. I left the hotel without even staying one night, you could not even pay me to stay a single night there. My advice is don't even think about this hotel.

It works
By ,
All I needed was a decent place at a good price. It was that. The front desk was also very helpful and friendly. Since I had a medical appointment on 6th Street, the location was perfect for me as well.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By ,
I really did not enjoy this place. I noticed that on one of the reviews that someone ALSO received a call at 2 a.m. in the morning. I was told that the front desk needed me because of an emergency. I called back to the front desk and a lady answered saying she did not call. The hotel can not track who called who. Either this place is haunted or they just like to play jokes on their guests during 2 am in the morning. It was a horrible experienced. I booked for 3 days total and ended up canceling after the first night. Nothing gets refunded. I booked another hotel in N. Vancouver. AVOID this place at all means. It's dirty, smells.. basically everything horrible you can mention; it exists here. I booked a non smoking room and ended up getting a smoking room. I complained and the front desk guy said that "it's not guaranteed".

Avoid if you can
By ,
On arrival you will be asked for your credit card for potential breakages!!! As we normally use cash, debit cards etc we were told that we couldn't have our room even though it had been fully paid for in advance. It took a $100 cash deposit to the receptionist to finally get in after an hour. We were desparate at 10pm after flying from London and we needed some sleep. Meanwhile a French couple with two kids a were weeping at being rejected accomodation for turning up late even though they had booked, they spent the night in their car (motel had double booked). The accomodation is basic minus, advert for porn TV displayed in the room, a fair bus ride to the skytrain station. district is dull but appeared safe. Cheap and relatively clean while we were there. Breakfast is a hot drink from a machine and dubious muffins served in the lobby. Not acceptable at allegedly three star level. Is this Canadian hospitality?

This is the only Place I will ever stay in Burnaby
By ,
The room was very clean and comfortable and I felt at home. The Bathtub was so clean it was sparkling!!! The staff was wonderful. They were right there ready and willing to help with whatever you needed whether it was extra coffee to midnight your wireless needing help. :) I felt completely comfortable ad I cannot wait to get back there. I know considered it my home in Burnaby!! the Location was perfect also easy to get to anywhere. I miss being there and I am anxious to go back, it was the nicest hotel that I have been in at this price in forever. I can't speak highly enough of this hotel.

Awful Dump of a place
Stay here if you want -hair on your bed -condoms on the floor -breakfast consisting of day old coffee and stale muffins. -smell (I can't even say what they were) -Air Conditioners that were made back in the 1920... Trust me, your money should go here. If you do stay at the hotel, arrive early and check the place out, do not give your credit card until you have seen the room....please please go somewhere else...

happy at happy day inn
By ,
While out of the way for traditional vancouver touring, the happy day inn is a great budget choice for burnaby/new westminster. our room was small but clean, quiet and pleasant. there are some great little restaurants nearby (including a place with a $3.25 breakfast - a cheapskate's dream!) and the staff were all very friendly and super helpful. i'd definately stay here again if i need a place stay in this area.
