Avoid This Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/09
I booked the rooms two months in advance w/ them supposedly being side by side. My elderly mother and another family member was to stay there next to each other. They arrived and found they were not even in the same building. After the event I took my family members back only to find that the room adjacent to my mothers was having a party and smoking dope to the point that the smell filled the hallway. I confronted the front desk personnel who was able to do nothing about a room change as they were full. Another two customers were so disgusted that they had gone looking for other rooms but the hotels were all full. I ended up having to leave my place and my other guests as I was not able to feel comfortable about her staying there by herself. The parking lot had a steady stream of low lifes walking thru it, I found blood on one of the pillow cases and the noise from people going in and out of the stair well door kept us up late. I'm one that tries to book rooms with independents, eat and shop at the mom & pop businesses, but this experience has lead me to make sure I stay at a hotel that has more of a known name. Beaware, if your trying to park anything larger than a small SUV you may have problems.

Pleasant Place to Stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/28/08
The two nights stay here was very pleasant. I got whatever I was looking for and the guidance from the friendly hotel staff was an advantage. For the price tag it is good value and nice accommodation.

Not bad anymore
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/07
(This is the second site I post a positive review to, because the hotel is doing a fine job.) Looks like this hotel has actually much improved after the name change. The bad: Elevator doors close scary fast (I don't actually use the elevator anymore), there's no breakfast out of season, and the location's still not entirely hot (it has proximity to downtown SC and sufficient parking spots inside, but the view isn't terribly good or romantic - you'll essentially see the city). On the other hand, the room service is as good as it gets, and the rooms (been in two) were in perfect shape & the equipment fully met my expectations for a low to mid-priced hotel. That includes bathroom, wireless internet etc.

HORRIFIC!
By Theresa, 8/21/07
This place was downright scary. Our door would not lock, from the inside or the outside. The balcony door would not open. The carpet and bedding was filthy. The blankets had holes in them. I asked for a refund because I felt unsafe with a door that would not lock and was told they would call maintenance to come fix the door. I would rather sleep on the beach. This place is dirty, nasty, disgusting. I did get a refund but it took a lot of hassling. Needless to say, with two small children, I was not pleased.

Excellent Stay
By Shital, 12/27/06
We stayed at the motel during Christmas 2006. We could reach there late evening by 11.30PM. The lady greeted us with smile and very friendly. Rooms were nice as compared to motel rooms. Parking was safe and stay was comfortable for the price we paid. We will definitely go there in summer.

Please read before booking
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/5/06
First let me say that my family and I had booked 4 separate rooms and all of them need lots of work done. In one room the door had been broken into and they just put a piece of plywood with some nails in it, which could have easily had been broken into again. When I went to the management and requseted another room he(Ken) said the room was still safe and i said no it is not I want another room. Second the room on the street side are VERY noisy with traffic. All bedding needs to be replaced it is worn out. Sliding door windows are cloudy and dirty. There are no clocks in any of the rooms. NO AC or HEATER. All faucets in showers were rusted. There was not a box of kleenex to be found in any of the 4 rooms! The elevator had button covers missing and there was no certificate of inspection anywhere in the elevator car. The last and most disturbing thing was, one of the rooms had no battery in the smoke detector. This place is privately owned and I will never stay here again, please take my advice book room that is affilliated with a hotel chain not privately owned. This is the worst place I have ever stayed.

Not the greatest but not terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/16/06
First off I read these reviews after I already booked a room so my thoughts it was going to be hell but it wasn't as bad as others said it would be. Place owned by Indian family, so yes there english wasn't the best but it was fine, it did smell of curry in the office however they seemed very nice to me upon check in. As for the room it was fun down however clean - the screen was broke on the balcony, water spot on the ceiling and about 12 channels on the TV. The room was clean - Doors locked - No AC or heat so I wouldn't recommend staying during hot or cold seasons - Location is great, just a 3 minute walk to the boardwalk - Location is noisy and right on the street - If I could have I would have stayed elsewhere but as defense for the owners its not the worst place in the world to stay however I'd spend the extra money to stay at a better establishment.

One of the worst hotels I have ever seen
By Chris, 8/12/05
First of all, the management is horrible. They don't know anything about customer service and hospitality. When we arrived, they were shouting and unfriendly. The pictures that they display for the reception desk are probably from the 1980s... the desk looks like a dirty pawn shop now. Second, the rooms are in disrepair and look like rooms that people go to to cheat on their spouses or have prostitutes visit. Not to mention that it is probably easy for thiefs to enter the rooms through the broken balcony doors. In addition, I asked management how much they charged for the hotel (anything above $30 or $40 is ridiculous)... they said $75... we paid $90 through the internet. It definitely is not worth that much! The first reviewer had a hunch that the hotel uses the internet to rip off people... I have the same hunch. It is very hard to feel comfortable after you meet the management and see the rooms. You are better off staying in one of the surrounding areas such as Capitola, Monterrey, Carmel, Aptos, etc. Santa Cruz (near the Boardwalk) is seedy (not that nice). It will be more money but it is worth it. Staying in a nice hotel room definitely makes your vacation or visit much nicer.

"Never Again"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/05
The lady at the desk, which I believe to be the owner JOSHU, was rude and very unprofessional. She did not speak English well nor seem to understand it well. A guest came in to get an extra sheet and rudely she said NO! She kept insisting that I only have two people in the room after I told her only two and when I got my key she bent over looking out the door to see if more people were in my car. I asked for non-smoking and she was talking to me like if I was going to try to smoke and then pay a $100.00 fine. The room a non-working heater, bathroom fixtures were rusted and very old. This place needs a face lift badly and friendly people working the front desk. Never again would I come here. I would rather sleep in my car then stay here again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
