Stay away from the Northfield Inn
By L K, 07/02/08
I have heard that the Northfield Inn is a delightful place to stay and I was interested in staying there. But I want to caution others when giving the inn their credit card information. I made a reservation in March 2008 and gave my credit card information. A short while later I received a phone call stating the room I requested was not available, so I canceled the reservation-- ASSUMING they would destroy my credit card information. I was wrong. Three months later they charged my card for the entire week's stay at the Inn. When I phoned to apprise them of their error, they were not interested in discussing it. Now, I have to do all kinds of things to get the funds returned to me. My advice to others is, make sure the Inn sends you a receipt for any reservation, deposit, or cancellation. Otherwise, you might have a problem. Of course, if you read the other reviews of those who tried to stay there, you might wish to avoid the place.

Lovely lovely lovely!

The Inn is large and lovely inside and out. It was raining so we didn't get to walk around in the garden. Our large room was very comfortable; a good night's sleep. Plenty of towels! The 3 course breakfast was outstanding! Delicious and beautifully presented. Didn't need to eat lunch. Perfect directions on the Northfield Inn website (NOT Mapquest). It's just 1 block off Rte 12 in Northfield. Our destination for the weekend was theater in Montpelier. Turned out to be a quick, easy ride. Accomodating hostess. I'd go back!

Northfield Inn Vermont
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/07
Don't even bother to waste your time making a reservation at this place. I made reservs well over a month ago for my husband and I to travel to this Inn the first weekend of October 2007. LAST EVENING she calls me to tell me that, "Last week we made a committment to Norwich University to host their so and so event and we'll be having dignitaries from all over the world, we have to change your reservation to another weekend." After a good reaming out, she was speechless. What kind of place tosses their guests aside just for some publicity? My guess is Iglaia should go back to Inn Keeper's School to learn how to run a B&B. I didn't read great reviews about this place from other review sites but this was the last place that had any weekends available. Now I know why!

Try the Montpelier Inn instead...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/05
The Victorian house is beautiful and the breakfast amazing. However, Northfield is about 30 minutes away from anything interesting and the place is especially hard to find in the dark. The overall experience made me feel like I was staying in someone's grandmother's house. I was charged a different price from what I was quoted, and the rooms are priced differently even though they are pretty much the same. The hostess was particularly fustrating because she never remembered anything you told her and reminded me of a nagging grandmother.
