BEWARE!!! OUR CAR BROKEN INTO AND OTHERS STOLEN!!!
By Bossy, 8/1/11
Just returned from a stay at the Avista. Our car was parked in the parking garage across the street, which is the only place to park, unless you are lucky enough to find one on the street. We discovered the following morning that our locked car had been broken into. Several items were taken. Obvious professionals from what the officer knew about the situations that had been occurring in this area. At the same time the police officer was taking down our information, a couple approached advising him their vehicle had been stolen. It was no where to be found after her husband searched every level of the garage. Come to find out, after talking with other visitors, the Avista has had such problems for over 1 year now and have done nothing to deter it....There are no camera's or a security guard anywhere to be found!!! This place needs to get off the bucks and pay for some desperately needed security or shut the doors!! The manager seemed as if she was so surprised when our situation was addressed with her. We will NEVER stay there again and would recommend others not to do so either. Additionally, the rooms were very worn and when you sign in, you have to waive any housekeeping services during your stay, which is ridiculous when you fork out $1K for a 3 night stay. So much for our much needed R & R!!

No security!Not Safe
By Rebecca, 7/26/11
They don't have any cameras in their parking garage. The first night our car had the tires and custom wheels stolen so we woke up to the police and our car on concrete blocks. If that wasn't enough they moved their cars right under the building to be "safer" and our friends car was keyed!!!!!!!!! WE left early even though we spent 3,500 dollars on the best room you can get there. It ruined the only vacation time we had AND to make things even worse the manager wouldn't help us out in ANY way even though they have two security officers. So if you want to take the risk of your car being vandalized and the manager not helping at all with guest services then stay here!

Nice experience better than Prince Resort
By ddr, 12/27/10
Our 3 bedroom corner had lots of room and 3 baths. Nice room, great view, good value. I did call ahead to see if on-site restaunrant was open Christmas Day, but it was not. They did offer complimentary sandwiches and soup, but we missed since it was tiny notice in the elevator. We ate out, so no big dea. We did have to call for trash bags and towels, but got them with no problems. Too cold for outdoor pool, but had small indoor pool, lazy river, and hot tub. We enjoyed it. We almost booked 3 bedroom @ the sister Prince resort to save a few bucks. It had a fishing pier my Dad would enjoy, so after kids checked out Dad was going to move a few miles to a 1 bedroom and fishing pier. On duty manager was so rude and disputed the rates he had negotiated with staff the hour before. She was rude to them and said she would over ride any rate given. My "too nice to cause a scene" parents left SC to spend rest of vacation in Florida. Avista is worth the extra $$$...never saw the rooms but based on location, pools, and staff - no contest - Avista is much better location.

Downhill Fast
By Mark D, 9/6/10
This was my 2nd time visiting the Avista Resort, and sad to say, the place has gone downhill since the last time I was there in 2005. The reception area and employees were inadequate. We requested 2 times to have towels delivered to our room, and they never came. We also requested additional coffee and that also never came. When we go to the room, the TV remote didn't work in the living room. The hotel itself was very dirty and dingy, as if they didn't care any longer. Just a garbage type of place, of which I will never go to again.

Breathtaking
By Student, 7/20/10
Stayed in a suite overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Waking up to it every morning was wonderful. Since we stayed in a suit everyone had their own bed which was great for getting a good nights sleep. The room also came with a small kitchenette & washing & drying machines. The suite was a little narrow but it was long so it still had a lot of room. The place could use a little work but overall a great place to stay. Also the parking garage across the street has free parking which is great.

great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/09
This was our 2nd time visiting Myrtle Beach i was very cautious of where to stay but the Avista resort was great it was clean and the people were very friendly and the cleaning service was great too. My dislikes were the slow elevators but then i had to understand with soo many floors how fast can they real be . and there are no public bathrooms near the pool you had to get in the elevator and go up one floor . and with kids thats not easy other than that the stay was geat i will definately stay again. vanessa Lk norman NC .

Person who wrote review is a total NUT
By kolc, 8/10/09
A friend recommended this to me , they always had great experience. I read the review below that someone wrote. Remember you are at the beach, oceanfront, in summertime. THIS PERSON IS A JOKE that wrote this below Will never go back By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/07/09 I will never go back. There was sand all over the ground and the wind blew constantly. They do not have sound barrier walls in front to block the extremely loud sound of the ocean. It happened to be a full moon when we stayed and I had to use the only bedspread we had to cover the window to block its light. With the never ending waves in the ocean and the wind you cannot hear yourself think. They do not have all of their property shaded and this caused me to get a sunburn. Never again, next time I will stay at the Hilton Inn.

I would stay there again! Loved it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/09
After reading the other reviews, I was somewhat hesistant about staying here. However, as soon as we walked in the door, my fears were allayed. The hotel lobby was clean and spacious, the staff courteous and friendly. Our room was clean, and had all the amenities we were promised. The view from the balcony was beautiful!(We were in an oceanfront room). We had to change our room because we wanted a separate entrance into thebathroom. The manager, Angela, and the rep, Theresa attended to our request in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner. The hallways were clean, and there wasn't any noise on the floor we stayed on. The boys loved it.! They were able to hook up their video games and had the pool and beach right under their noses. The boys were in the living room and had their own beds, which they loved. I cooked breakfast and dinner twice, and I had all the pots and utensils I needed. We were about 15 minutes away from Barefoot Landing, and the Walmart, which is even closer, provided any extras we needed. I love the washer/dryer in the room, even though the dryer was a litte slow.:) My only issue was the parking lot which I believe is too small for the hotel, but hey, it was free. Loved it!

Poor Service, Resort going south in a hurry
By edward, 4/6/09
We booked over 9 months in advance and were promised a unit on floors 9-14 with a 300.00 deposit. When we checked in we were given (according to staff) one of the worst units in the complex right over compressors and lights on the sixth floor, you couldnt sleep for noise or light, we were moved to another unit and after three weeks there they decided to paint hallways and doors my wife had an asthma attack from the fumes, they offered us another unit and after viewing three different floors found they too were being painted then front desk called maintainence and found out that yes those floors were being painted, finally they moved us to another unit with broken furniture, tv not working etc. Front desk staff suggested we may want to relocated after the end of the month as painting would be ongoing and a lot of other people had already left due to allergies to the fumes, on Dec 27 we received a call asking why we were still there as they needed the room and they thought we were leaving, we were booked for three months and paid for the month of December but being so disgusted with them we found a new resort and got a refund of our deposit and a few dollars back for our unused nights. We found staff had no ideas of how to deal with complaints, pool areas were not kept clean, twice we had to chase cockroaches from our kitchen. The gym was nice but most of the equipement did not work, shower rooms were lacking soap, many mornings had to wait to use shower rooms as staff were using it for their personal use. Moving added to our costs as tax is charged on your unit if not occupied for 90 days or more. At our new resort we talked with 3 other couples who have abandoned the Avista because of lack of service painting fumes and cleaning issues we were also told by a local realator that the Avista was going down hill in a hurry.

This place was joke!
By LAURA, 3/10/09
My husband and I stayed at the avista for our honeymoon. When we arrived in our room, it was flooded and the matress was not even on the bed. We called down to management and they said that they would get it cleaned up and ready for us. Well, we went to eat and they when we arrived back, we couldn't even get into our room. They had chaned rooms on us. Needless to say we ended up with an ocean view room instead of ocean front. They said that they would let us know the next day if an ocean from room opened up. We seen where we had missed there call the next day and called back within ten minutes after missing there call and they had already gave our ocean front room away. The management was horrible. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.
