Hurl Rock Motel, Myrtle Beach

we had reservations later in the week for bike week, but we had to come earlier in the week because of the rain. They were able to put us in a room with no problem. Great people, service and cleanliness. They had a spot out front marked off for the bikes in a certain area. We were able to watch the bikes go up and down ocean blvd from our room which was great. Will easily stay again.

Me and my family love the Hurl Rock motel,It's our home away from home...The Perkins are doing a wonderful job....It gets better and better everytime we come!The rooms are very nice and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful...let's not forget the pool it is the cleans pool I have ever seen the water is crystal clear we love it! If you like to grill they also have two gas grills you can use anytime.Me and my kids love the rooftop balcony you can go up there and sit and enjoy the cool breeze.The best thing is the price for all this is very cheap which is great instead of stay at one those high priced hotels we can spend a few more days at the beach and take the kids and let them enjoy other things.We will not stay anywhere else but here!

I reeturned to Myrtle Beach for a vacation after several years absence and was delighted to find that the "Ma" Perkins family is back running the Hurl Rock. I guess they tried retirement and it didn't work out. It was great to see Crazy Dave and Insane Jane, as well as Awesome Arlene, Dave's sister. The rooms are clean, beach access is just across the street. The hotel has two balconies for grilling and chilling and the pool area is great. Ma Perkins would be proud!

My stay at the Hurl Rock was GREAT...the staff was friendly and the price is RIGHT...the remembrance of the motel when Ma Perkins was there is Back....the staff were still doing repairs and updates to make the appearance even better...to my understanding the Perkins Family took over April 1, 2010 and what an improvement they are making...the past owners were not friendly, and there were no clean rooms ; not a place for A FAMILY...we did not stay with them in the past because of the conditions but because of the New sign saying the Perkins Family was now back we stopped agin. We will continue to stay at the changed HURL ROCK....looking forward to my return...charlotte,nc

Just got back to "pre-ride" Myrtle for a preview for 2010 Bike Week. After boycotting the event for 5 years we decided to go back but I wanted to see what the city has done in the 5 years. Just because I had heard that the previous owners had changed the name and let the motel fall to ruins we wanted to see how bad it had gotten. To our surprise it looked nice so we pulled in. We met Dave who had taken the motel back over just two weeks ago. He showed us around and rooms 211 and 212. The place looked great so we gave it a chance. The old "family" feeling was back. Dave still has things he is doing and the workers were on site the days we were there. I have no doubt Dave will have it back in even better condition than it has ever been. Thanks Dave for bringing back the old Hurl Rock! See ya Bike Week...

I stayed at the hurl rock motel a few times after Jimmy and Sue sold it. It was run down and dirty. Last week I went to myrtle beach and saw the sign that the motel was now called Hurl Rock and that the Perkins family was back. I decided to give it a try. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the price was good. I liked the new changes and I will be back.

Hurl Rock is back to previous ownership, and they have a lot to do to recover their old loyal customers. But they are working at it and we sincerely enjoyed meeting them. We felt, with all the competition, they should concentrate on serving seniors and building a quiet and modest environment. Their proximity to a picturesque city park would make a very attractive place to bike. I so hope they make bicycles available when we use Myrtle Beach as a Time-out stop between home in Upstate NY and our Winter home in Florida.
