Worst place we've ever stayed--seriously!
By kOps, 10/10/09
The rooms were visibly moldy and smelled of mildew. When we complained, we were given a can of industrial "deodorizer." You could not open the windows; they had been screwed shut. The interior windows were so filthy on the outside you could not see through them. The management offered us little support, and because we had paid ahead of time, we were stuck. Pay a little more and stay someplace a bit cleaner.

What a dump
By Phoebe, 06/22/07
It was understaffed--they only had one person running the spa AND hotel check-in. Dirty, moldy rooms and run-down spa facilities. Yuck. There are many nice spas in the area, so give this one a miss.

rude desk personnel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/10/07
I called to make reservations. I told receptioninst that I was a returning customer. I felt rushed and uneasy talking to her. My initial stay was alright. Place looks cheap.pool looks dirty to me.

customer service???
By CarrieG, 06/15/05
I have used the spa facilites for about the last 3 years, and it has only gone down hill. The front staff has the absolute worst customer service skills of any spa/lodging I've been to. The manager was not willing to help, rude and un-trained in her social skills. The hotel itself was nice, so were the massueses.

I'll never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/05
They ruined my family reunion. We placed three separate reservations for 2 nights and somehow they ALL became reservations for 1 night. We squeezed into fewer rooms for the second night and they had the gall to charge us more. When my sister-in-law told them about a clogged toilet, they offered her a plunger. Please stay away and help them go out of business.

Tear it down and try again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/05
Maybe we were expecting something more romantic when we signed up for a couple's spa package at a place where lodging was offered as well for a decent price. The pictures looked great, but i've stayed in nicer rooms in third-world countries. We paid extra for a roman tub (i.e. a hole cut in the ground with tile around it and stained grout and make-shift faucets covered in toilet paper tubes and tape) and a sitting area (which you had to move the yard sale couch to the foot of the bed to see the t.v. comfortably). I am not a huge fan of the wicker furniture side tables and tv cabinet, especially when they needed a fresh coat of poorly applied white paint. The bed spread was "nubby" and the pattern indistinguishable. The spa facilities (minus the couple's massage room) is best described as "rustic." The staff was young and spoke thier mind and acted young as well - not really interested if their shirt claims they are "hot stuff" one day or a "princess" the next in sparkles when I am there for a romantic weekend with my spouse. About the only highlight was the WONDERFUL massage laying next to my spouse who received one at the same time. However, i know other spas in town offer the same service.

Only If You Bring Your Own Higher Wattage Light Bulbs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/23/05
This place seemed like being in the cheap seats. There were 3 pools: cool, lukewarm with a vortex, and tepid. None was truly hot. If you're going to Calistoga for hot water, don't go here. The enclosure over the tepid tub was lovely, but failed to take advantage of a potential view and the plumbing needed work big time. Only half the jets worked at once and the air-sucking noises were totally obnoxious. The room felt tacky. There were light switches that turned on nothing, carpet not tacked down firmly, chipped paint, and a door that rattled in the wind all night --- not to mention no light bulb over 40 watts. Had to remove the lamp shades in order to read a book. Bring your own light bulbs. The "Continental Breakfast" consisted of individually packaged CostCo sweet rolls, coffee and o.j. in thimble sized cups. If you want to soak in hot water and relax & can't get a room elsewhere with pools, I think you'd do better to stay in a place with no spa service and pay a fee to use the pools at yet another location.
