Super 8 Fenton, Fenton

My daughter had a dance competition and this poor excuse for a motel was a super 8, we have stayed in those before with no complaint but this place gives all super 8's a bad name. just because of this incident I am never going to another super 8!! we got there, and keep in mind this is a really nice neighborhood the competition is in, so this motel was listed at 1.8 miles from the place, so I thought, ok, this should be ok, no bad reviews, I made the reservations. got into town at 10:30 tired as heck, got out of my car and on the ground was 3 square plastic packets of white powder. kind of overlooked that and went on (told the front desk). checked into the room, it was a nice clean room, looked ok to me, when I went to go lock the door, the chain thingie was gone (ripped off) and the deadbolt would not go (the hinge thingie on the door had evidence of forced entry) so no way to lock the door. so I call the front desk and complain, had to go back and they put me in a different room. got all unpacked and stuff and realized there was only 2 hand towels for our party of THREE!!!! what the hell?? I called the front desk and complained again, they said they would send a guy up (it was 11:30) and I didn't want that because this was the first super 8 I been to that is not enclosed, meaning that the doors were outside and anyone from the street could drive up in front of your room. so i just proceeded to chew the people out and told them forget it, blah blah blah. slept, got up at 5, got my daughter ready except for her tights and makeup that we left in the car on accident, told her I was going to run out and get them, and the deadbolt breaks off in the door and I cannot get out!!!!!! so she is half dressed, I am yelling into the telephone at the front desk THAT I HAVE TO BE SOMEWHERE IN 1 HR AND I BETTER GET OUT OF THIS ROOM NOW! they come and try to open it from the outside, which I knew wouldn't work, they were so dumb they never thought about going thru the next room since it had adjoining doors. I suggested that and they were like, "uhhhhhh, theres someone in there" and I'm like "I DONT CARE IF THERE IS SOMEONE THERE OR NOT, YOU ARE GOING TO GET ME OUT OF THIS ROOM OR I AM GOING TO BREAK THIS WINDOW!!!" so they say they will call them, we hear the phone next door ring, and ring, and ring, then the front desk calls us back and says "uhhhhhh, they're not answering" and I proceed to yell the same above sentence and finally they come and unlock the other door uninvited and we go and all is well. DO NOT STAY HERE! I have called corporate already, hopefully they will close down.

I called and made reservations ahead of time for two nights. I was quoted a price of $133.00 with tax. When we got there they raised it to $141.00. They did upgrade us to a king room downstairs by the pool. The room was nice and clean, BUT there were ANTS, ANTS, and more ANTS, they were thousands of them, all over the room all over the bed, restroom, sink, bedside tables. Which made it very hard to eat. We had aleast two ants on us the whole time we were there. I kept knocking them off of me while I was sleeping. I went to the lobby to get something and a lady was checking in with her family. The clerk charged her $50.00 with tax. I waited for her to leave and then asked him. Why I was charged $70.00 a night with reservations and he was trying hard to find a good answer, and he finally just blamed it on the day clerk who checked us in. I did not like that. A walk in gets 20.00 a night cheaper rates than someone who made reservations. Breakfast was good. Supplies and the food was kept stocked for us. Will not stay again because of the ANTS and the price problems.

The location is very convenient. It was an okay stay if you are just looking for a place to sleep. Bed was fine, free wireless Internet, hot water for showers in the morning, and waffles for breakfast. If you're looking for a place to "hang out," with your family, I'd recommend the place we stayed at last year: the Fairfield Inn just down the street (very clean, friendly people, indoor pool). I did not enjoy being on the second floor since the steps were a little icy, but I guess someone has to stay up there. The rooms could use some updating.

I stayed here last week and it's much better and they have plans to make it way better. The previous GM was a real zero from what I hear but they have a new one now and he's really making changes. I noticed that the staff is diffrent and more friendly. The rooms have mostly been renovated and are much cleaner. This is the first time that there was not hair my tub or on my toilet. The room was dusted and my sheets and comforter appeared to be new. Super 8 holds their hotels to a standard and I'm sure this is the reason that the former Econo Lodge is now a much better place to stay.

Upon arrival, the rooms seemed ok. After seeing hair in the bathtub and toothpaste on the sink and coutertops, I started to worry. I lifted the toilet seat, and there was dried urine on it! The carpeting hadnt been vacuumed and was frayed. My daughter stepped on a rusty tack strip! There was food crumbs still in the refrigerator. The manager refused any compensation. We couldnt leave to find a new hotel, because we had small children and it was a weekend and late at night. The next morning, my mother-in-law had bug bites all over her legs and the "breakfast" was over at 7:30 am because they ran out of things, including coffee. This was THE MOST horrible hotel experience ever!
