Hideaway Sands Resort, St. Pete Beach

We spent a week that included New Years Day. The place was clean, with new bedspreads, towels, and like-new upholstery on the couch & chairs. The kitchen was spotless and fully equiped with everything except food and a cook. Flat screen TV with DVD/VCR in the living room and TV in master bedroom. Nice little screened balcony with the master bedroom. Heated pool and hot-tub were clean and well maintained. The beach was the best! There's nice beach chairs with umbrellas and cushions. It's quiet and great for families but if you want to walk down the beach for a couple hundred yards, there's outdoor bars where you can get a drink and listen to music. I have no complaints and only complements!

We recently bought a week at Hideaway Sands. We were pleasantly surprised at how clean and well kept up the entire grounds and units were. We have met several people that have owned their weeks for many, many years and love it. It is older, but maintained very well. The pool was small but clean and maintained very day. We loved the area and loved the weather. Can't wait to go back each January! The units have been redone (haven't seen them yet) but anticipate them being fabulous. They are on the small side, but who sits in their unit on the beach? Definitely not the Ritz, but quaint, cozy and very clean !

I don't know what type of unit that the other reviewer stayed in, but I own 6 weeks in a 2 bedroom here and have never had a problem with the unit being dirty or smelly. I have had friends use my units and have always gotten compliments. As for the office staff they have always been more than accomodating and very friendly to my family and guests. This is not a 5 star resort, it is a small older condominium complex, right on the beach, but it has always been well kept up. They just redid the pool and hot tub last year as well as replaced the windows in the townhouse units. In addition they have undertaken interior renovation that includes replacing window treatments, carpets, furniture and wall coverings and linens. There was some mold damage after the hurricanes of 2004- 2005, but all mold has been removed from the units. People are entitled to their own opinions but I absolutely love it there, or I would not own 6 weeks. As for ants, I have never seen any at all. I do know that since the hurricanes, there has been a problem with ants throughout the western side of the state, so maybe that is what the other reviewer encountered. I have friends that live in the area, who are very clean people and they've had to have exterminators out several times, due to this. But again I have never seen any bugs at Hideaway Sands. I hope that you take this review into account and give the resort a chance. You won't regret it, if you don't go in expecting a luxury resort and instead are looking for a nice, clean comfortable, family oriented place at the beach.
