It's a trade off
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/11
Not the greatest. It's all a trade off. You pay more when you get closer to the park but you lose on amentities.

Do NOT Recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/29/10
We stayed in the lodge (hotel) portion Pros: Very close to Grand Canyon South Rim entrance. Free continental breakfast at Cafe Tusayan was good. Cons: The staff were unfriendly. They were rude and were unfriendly when answering our questions. Despite the hotel portion being built in the mid-'90s, the interior rooms were dirty and old-looking. There were ants in our room (on the first floor). Also, the side door lock was broken. Anyone without a key card could access the building. Unfortunately, I left something in the room after I checked out. I called to see if it was found and was put on hold for at least 5 minutes. I would not recommend this hotel. You definitely get what you pay for.

Dirty, noisy and they don't care!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/09
I was really disappointed in our stay at the Red Feather Lodge from the time we arrived to the time we left. The worst part of it all was that the noise level. I could hear everything going on upstairs from foot steps to closing doors to even hearing when they shifted their weight. This went on most of the night and morning and needless to say we didn't sleep well at all. The carpet had large stains on it with an offensive odor that was similar to the smell of what you use when you clean carpets to cover up other odors. I saw pets in the neighboring rooms, so I assume it was something associated with a pet mess. The bedding was not sufficient, the pillows were uncomfortable and the blanket was a twin sized blanket on a queen sized bed, it wasn't enough to cover 2 people comfortably. I would expect these conditions to exist in a hotel that charged quite a bit less. For $150 I expect to have a comfortable and quiet room in a hotel focused on customer service and hospitality, none of which this hotel had. When I checked in, Rebecca was more of an interrogator vs. a host. When I checked out, unfortunately I had Rebecca again and when I relayed to her my disappointment, she basically said sorry and here is your receipt. She stated that there were no supervisors there and that there was nothing she could do about it.

Clean, friendly, reasonably priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/3/09
Very friendly staff from the person who answered the phone, to check-in staff, to cleaning lady and even the pool maintenance people! Very helpful on local recommendations. Rooms were very clean. Great pet and non-smoking policy! I would definitely come back again and recommend to family/friends. CAUTION: Hot water is very hot!

Good Deal
By Natalie, 9/11/08
We booked the Red Feather Lodge for one night on a road trip from Colorado to Vegas. The weather was beautiful, the Grand Canyon was incredible and the motel was pretty nice. We were upgraded from the motel to the hotel for no extra charge. The room was clean and the location wasn't IN the national park, but it was only a few minute drive. The continental breakfast had fruit, yogurt, bagels, muffins and more. This places proves that you don't only need to stay at "chain" motel/hotels.

Location, location, location...
By connie m, 4/29/08
The location was the best thing about this hotel. The room was very adequate. Would have liked a refrigerator. I thought the price was a little steep, but location, location, etc.... The visit to the Grand Canyon made it all worth it.

Cannot recommend
By timothy, 3/25/08
We stayed in the older section of the motel and the rooms were tiny as well as had a dirty feeling about it. There was no counter space in the bathroom to put our things. For $125 a night I expected a whole lot better. The free breakfast in the morning wasn't worth our time. They has prepackaged muffins as well as horrible coffee. We also had dinner at the onsite restaurant, again it was awful. The only good thing I can say about the motel is it's location to the canyon. My recommendation is if you can get a room inside the park, do so.
