Description

Unique brick Victorian, circa 1883. You can't miss the steeple and high pitched slate roof in the distance, and up close the gingerbread trim on the porches and brick detailing and inlays will delight the eye. Once owned by a prominent family , Henry Clay Dodson, , this is one of the most prominent architectural elements of the Historic District. Located across the street from the new entrance to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum which uses the old Knapps Narrows draw bridge, you are only two blocks from the harbor or the shops. Excellent restaurants in the same block and others within St. Michaels add to your stay. We have bikes to explore the many water vistas in the area, and our front porch or sun deck upstairs add to your enjoyment. We pride ourself on the gourmet breakfast served in our formal dining room off of the parlor. Rooms are late Victorian with Queen Anne cherry reproductions, elegant brass King or Queen bed, all with private bath with Victorian touches and tiled shower stalls.

Nice Inn...But not as advertised! Dont go...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/11
The Parsonage Inn in St. Michael MD is a very beautiful house, the rooms were clean, decorated beautifully and smelled very nice...The cook and house keeper Deb was very warm and welcoming and made us very good and filling breakfasts but she is not a chef as advertised on their website...The food was good but not as advertised. We did have some issues with the stay. On the website they advertised an Afternoon Tea with cookies, brownies or pastry in their parlor that never happened even after it was requested. The owner Will even told us that on Saturday he would make sure that the Afternoon Tea was prepared for us but when we made sure we where at the inn at the scheduled time no one was at the inn and the house was dark. There were tools, drywall, empty boxes, cat litter boxes, tipped over planters, dead plants and trash around the Inn that took away from the atmosphere. The outside of the inn could have used a good cleaning. The inn keeper didn't make sure the heat or air conditioning was on and left without informing the guests where to turn on the heat or air conditioning. Since there were no thermostats located in the rooms, the rooms got very cold early in the mornings and very hot in the late afternoons. It felt like the Inn wasn't ready for guests since Will the innkeeper was on vacation for three weeks and had only 3 hours sleep when we arrived at 4pm on Friday. The kitchen was not stocked there wasn't even ice for the guests to use in their ice buckets or enough sugar or cream for coffee that was out for the guest.

Never Again
By Bob, 7/4/09
Our room was in back and as stated the view was a dumpster not a quaint town. Much worse though was the size of the room, think half of a Motel 8, which was too small to move in. They had crammed in a big bed and had room for little else. We have stayed in B&Bs all over the world and we felt this was the least value we have ever recieved for our money. Add to that the noise level from the other rooms, where what we thought were children turned out to be brainless 20 something girls and sleep was at a premium. The food was great by the way and the host were very helpful. Would never go back!

We'd visit again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/08
Our first visit to St. Michaels to attend a wedding was perfect beginning with our stay at the Parsonage Inn! Working for a church, the name of the Inn intrigued me! My husband and I couldn't have been more delighted with the gourmet brunches prepared and served by Bill and Char; their help when asked for dinner recommendations; and their welcoming and casual hospitality. Our room was comfortable, clean, and cozy with access to a second floor deck. The free use of bikes and helmets to explore the quaint town of St. Michaels was a plus!

Run don't walk away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/29/07
Wallpaper, literally, coming off the walls. Holes in walls. Clutter. Ashtrays on porch sometimes not emptied. Smell of cigarettes from smoking permeates the air. Innkeepers nice enough. View from the room we had (out back and not in main house) was of a dumpster and the St. Michael's housing authority projects. We were charged $179+taxes for the smallest room, hole in the wall, frayed pillow cases, small wooden table with screw in legs (fell over morning we were leaving). We went to St. Michael's to relax. There was no place at the inn to relax. If I sat on porch the innkeeper smoked, if I sat inside the TV was on. Couldn't relax in room as it wasn't comfy or roomy enough. Save your money this inn needs lots of help and tender care.

Very nice with one shortcoming
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/14/05
The hotel is clean, well kept and attractive. Good for a couple or a small family. The staff are friendly and helpful without being insincere. The location is good being located near everything you could want. It has charm and a casual air with guests coming and going constantly. One tip, during the weekend book a room in the backside of the Inn as constant pedistran and road traffic make you feel like you're sleeping on the sidewalk.
