Got off to a bad start, and only got worse...
By klik-klik, 7/5/11
We get checked into our $58 room @ 11pm -- someone's been sleeping in one of our beds! No more similar rooms available, so we wait until the housekeeping staff comes to change the sheets. The worst part about it was the front desk staff's non-chalance about the whole thing -- "yeah, we just switched someone out of that room -- the sheets should still be clean." (NOT the right answer!) Their next customer service failing was at breakfast time -- out of bagels for the last 45 minutes of breakfast, and again, complete non-chalance from the front desk staff -- after several people complained, she reluctantly showed up with one small bag of English muffins. (Plus there was only one tiny table that could seat 5 people, although there was a closed banquet hall about 20 feet away.) These people obviously don't know the meaning of the word "hospitality" and should all be retrained or seek other employment! Also worrisome was the unlocked door from the parking lot to the hotel corridor and the very, very slowly flushing, almost overflowing toilet...

Tis motel seemed just fine to us.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/30/09
We chose this Econolodge because it was only 10 minutes away from Steamtown in Scranton. I read poor reviews before we went, but the cost was low compared to others closer to Steamtown. We decided to take our chances, after all, we were just staying one night. Our King bed room was huge, very clean and quiet. We were able to walk to a nice family restaurant for breakfast. I would have no problem staying here again. Maybe we were just lucky, but our experience was good.

"The Budget Out" not Inn!
By Holly, 3/21/09
My husband and I stayed there for one night. Great room for the money but we would not stay again. We did not get a wink of sleep because of noise from other guests. It was horrible my husband called the office twice to complain and nothing was ever done.

cockroach motel
By libby, 7/30/08
a couple of friends and myself booked a room thru a third party to stay here, we got in the room and it stank like something died in here. the comforters were crusty like they were never washed. we just needed to crash. my husband put his arm under the pillow and got bit by something, then he saw a cockroach on the ceiling, we all jumped up at which time i noticed the piss and blood stains all over the matresses, both sides. the place is falling apart. the sign for the econo lodge is sitting on pallets on the ground in the parking lot. needless to say, we took a bunch of pics and left. dont know if we are getting our money back, the place we booked it thru had a clause "no refunds even if rooms are uninhabitable" so obviously this has been a complaint in the past. i rate this econo lodge a -8 and a roach.

Would stay again--good deal
By Ann, 7/2/07
Stayed here recently--traveling through town and this was close to 81 S. Room was more $$ than advertised on this site. But overall happy with room. Quiet, fairly clean. Breakfast on the weekends should go longer than 10 am for those of us who like to sleep in late. Bed was a little too firm. Bathroom was clean. Sheets clean but had small holes in them and didn't fit properly. Air conditioning kept room comfortable and curtains kept out all light. Would stay again. People friendly and helpful for out of town guests.

Not bad for price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/23/07
I arrived in late afternoon and found my room to be neat and clean. For the $50.00 I paid for the night..it was what I needed..nothing fancy or spectacular, just needed a bed for the night that wasn't a dump. My accommodations were fine for the rate I paid.

Scary!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/06
We arrived late at night and wound our way back in the dark to the hotel. They use a bulletproof glass window for night check-in, which tells you something about this place. We drove up, took one look in the place and kept right on going. There's a good reason this is so cheap.
