Bed bugs and spiders!
By MichelleB, 07/30/08
My husband & I stayed there 1 night in June for our anniversary. I woke up the next day to find over 20 bed bug bites on me and half a dozen on my husband. I also killed two large spiders in the room. The guy checking us in was less than helpful when we asked for a resonably priced place for dinner. He said, "It's Mammoth. It's expensive. What do you expect?" Nice attitude dude. We won't be back.

The Hotel is Falling Apart
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/19/08
While we were there some of the roof actually fell onto some poor guests' cars. We were lucky that it wasn't us, but this just speaks for the condition of this old unkept property. Our room was stinky and dirty. The carpeting looks like it is over 20 years old. Prepare to carry your stuff up multiple flights of stairs. The walls and floors are very thin, so if the people on the third floor have kids that are running around, you will hear that...and if the people next to you are making noise, you will hear that too.

Forget the moaners,stay here !!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/08
My wife and I stayed at the AH late Dec 2007 I was a bit worried about the reviews that I read which are totally untrue,we found our room was very clean, cosy and warm, superb views of the mountain and ski in and out,the spa was excellent/hot under the stars, staff were very helpful/polite.I would recommend and stay again. Bed Bugs and No Hot Water
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/26/07
We stayed at the Austria Hof Lodge for 2 nights in September 07. The first night my husband had about 30 bites from bed bugs. We requested a room change but they did not do so. They claimed they had steam cleaned the mattress. The morning we departed there was no hot water. The room we had looked directly on to the trash area in the back of lodge. Obviously we will not go back and would not recommend it to anyone.

Horrible Customer Service!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/25/07
If you want friendly, accommodating service do not stay at this dated place. My husband and I got there at 1:30pm on Saturday and were told to come back at 3pm, because the room wasn't ready and 3pm is when check in is. We had a wedding to be at by 4:30pm in Convict Lake so we were pressed for time. At exactly 3 pm we come back and they tell us the room still isn't ready because only one maid came in that day, so "too bad." And whoever was in that room the night before hadn't checked out yet. (Their luggage was still in the room, but the people were nowhere to be found.) We explained to them that we were pressed for time and the mono-toned old man said to us, "well, what do you want me to do about it?" Total attitude and could care less. So in the middle of the maids cleaning we tell her we have to get into the room to get ready. So she tosses the original occupants luggage into the hall. In the meantime we're getting ready in our dirty room and the original occupant comes back knocking at the door wondering why we're in there. Turns out the hotel forgot they were staying 2 nights. The occupants were very upset that their luggage was just tossed in the hallway with their passports in it and all! To make a long story short, the hotel didn't comp us our room, or even offer us an apology. Also, the walls are so thin you can hear everything people are saying in the rooms next to and above you. We will never stay there again! Such rude and unprofessional customer service! That's what we get for $89 a night!

First class lodge!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/04
By far the best place we've found in Mammoth. Rooms are incredible, free internet access, free breakfast, and slopeside with a nice bar and restaurant. We booked the ski package and even got dinner and drinks included.

Austruia Hof's The Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/04
Just as described, ski to the door, great happy hour and nice restaurant right there. No need to drive anywhere! Awesome rooms and a nice free breakfast. Loved the spa overlooking the mountain. Ask for a Fireplace or Jacuzzi room, definetly worth the extra $$
