Buena Vista Motor Inn, San Francisco

The prices are reasonable (for San Fran), the rooms are clean, the view is great, the location is central, the staff is very friendly, the free parking is an adventure! I love this place. I stayed there on both my trips to San Fran and I would stay there again. The view out our window onto Lombard St was exciting. The view from the 3rd floor common area is stupendous! You can see the Golden Gate Bridge and lots of hills and interesting buildings. You can sit outside on the roof in comfortable patio furniture or sit in the common room and still see a lot from the huge windows.

If you are on the constant go as I was for two -1/2 days sighseeing and want a no-frills yet comfortable hotel and you need nothing more than a bed, bath,TV, coffee maker & hairdryer, and a light breakfast--this is the place to stay $$. The morning pastries were very fresh, plenty of fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee. The service was great and most helpful and friendly. They arranged for our shuttle pickup to airport. This hotel is very nice and located about a 5 minute walk to the Marine Park (north) and 15 minute walk to the Wharf area and bus tours,cable cars...location was great. If you don't like to walk, hotel will call for a cab. Prepaid Bus Tours will pick up and drop of at this hotel--this was great!! If you need to pay $$$$ for luxury and for things you won't use or don't need-go some place else. If you just want basic comfort, nice/good location, excellent service this is the hotel. I'd much rather spend my $$$ on other things besides a room that is only used for a short time.

I loved the servcice and friendly staff, the hotel looked boring and I think they need to modernise it but still we loved it and I will stay there again as i aleardy have been for the past 5 times.

You get what you pay for, but for a Sat night in October with free parking it was very reasonable! Location was great. The rooms were clean but not comfortable. The toilet did not flush well. The continental breakfast did not look appealing. The front desk was very helpful and free parking was worth the stay alone.

We stayed at Buena Vista Motor Inn becaused our AAA travel agent helped us select it. She had chosen very well in Monterey, but this hotel was not worthy of its three diamond rating. While the location was great, we were very disapointed by the behavior of the employees, especially the manager, who parked in the no-parking spaces on either side of the one van accessible handicapped spot. This, along with their inaction when guests without handicapped placards parked in the handicapped spot, really made it difficult for my husband who needed to park close to the door because of his disability. The room was average, the continental breakfast subpar (day-old pastry, old fruit and orange juice), and the lobby smelled like body odor (even after three days). We wanted to like the hotel, but there were many things that detracted from our experience. We were there for 2 nights and will be looking for another location if we decide to return to San Francisco. We learned that while in the city, you get what you pay for.

It was 2000 and we traveled to San Francisco for a wedding. The service was impeccable for the time we stayed. The room we had was a four star room. Everything was included in the package deal. The location was incredible, the sightseeing we had. Unbelievable until you experience it.

This Hotel/motel is highly recommended if you are looking for place to stay for a reasonable price.The people working there are helpful and kind and the place is well kept and clean. The location is ok, but not like the usually tourist place,it is quiet and safe though, and you can easily get around San Fran by bus or cablecars within walking distance, since there can be somewhat long distance for things you want to see and places to eat.The place have free internet access in the lobby and free parking in the basement, i would definetely pick this place again if going to San Fran.
